O atleta do UFC Charles do Bronx, que agora luta na categoria dos penas, e o seu treinador Ericson Cardoso terão um final de semana cheio em Ubatuba, quando ministram um seminário de Jiu-Jitsu em prol do Projeto Social O Lutador do Futuro.

Na sexta-feira pela manhã, Charles visita a Escola Municipal José Belarmino Sobrinho, no bairro do Puruba, onde as crianças do projeto estudam e à noite visita o Projeto Social para um treino com a criançada e para fazer a entrega de doação de equipamentos do seu patrocinador, a Pretorian Hard Sport.

No sábado acontecerá o seminário de Jiu-Jitsu a partir das 14h, com duração de três horas, com Charles Oliveira e seu treinador Ericson Cardoso. A atividade é em prol da manutenção do prédio do Projeto Social O Lutador do Futuro.

Os 50 primeiros inscritos ganharão camiseta alusiva Conduta do evento.

UFC fighter Charles do Bronx, who is moving down to the featherweight division, and his trainer Ericson Cardoso will have a busy weekend in Ubatuba, São Paulo state, where they will hold a Jiu-Jitsu seminar for outreach project Lutador do Futuro.

On this coming Friday morning, Charles will pay a visit to José Belarmino Sobrinho public school, in the Puruba neighborhood, where the children in the project study during the day, and at night he’ll visit the project to train with the kids and deliver equipment donated by his sponsor, Pretorian Hard Sport.

Saturday at 2 pm the three-hour Jiu-Jitsu seminar with Charles and Ericson will take place. Funds raised will go to the maintenance of the building housing O Lutador do Futuro project.

The first 50 to sign up will get T-shirts made specially for the event.

UFC on Versus 5 is all set to go down in Milwaukee this Sunday, and Charles do Bronx is one of the headliners. The Jiu-Jitsu brown belt is known to put on lively fights, and once again he’ll have an opponent who’s no easy task, in Donald Cerrone.

O UFC On Versus 5 acontece neste domingo, em Milwaukee, e traz a fera Charles do Bronx no card principal. O faixa-marrom de Jiu-Jitsu costuma proporcionar apresentações movimentadas e, mais uma vez, vai ter uma pedreira pela frente, o cowboy Donald Cerrone.

Undefeated in fourteen fights, Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira doesn’t get any rest in the UFC. With two finishes in his first two fights for the promotion, the last against TUF champion Efrain Escudero, Charles will now face Jim Miller next Saturday in Canada, at UFC 124.

“I’m really happy with the performances I’ve been having and I want to close out the year with another win. I’m training here in Canada with (Maurício, André Dida’s brother ) Veio, who is helping us a lot. The city is marvelous, we’re in a great hotel. I’m 100% for this fight, focused, happy and when I’m like this it’s hard to beat me. Ericson and Veio are passing me a lot of positive energy and I’m ready for war. I want this win,” he tells GRACIEMAG.com.

Miller is coming off a five-fight win streak in the UFC and, of the eighteen wins on his record (two losses), he has finished in ten. Charles’s coach at Bronx’s Gold Team, Ericson Cardoso, speaks of his pupil’s opponent.

“Jim Miller has shown he’s a dangerous fighter, a south-paw. We always pick up on the weak points and I feel Charles can make use of his reach, seeing as he is taller. I also feel Charles is better on the ground. Miller said in an interview that he’s a Jiu-Jitsu black belt, that he should be respected. We never respect anyone. We know he’s good on the ground, but I know even more about my student. We’re ready to fight standing or on the ground,” he says in analysis.

“Miller is a well-rounded guy, tough standing and good on the ground. I feel he’s more technical than Escudero, for example, and he comes on strong. He’ll try to impose the pace, which no one has managed to do with Charles in the UFC yet. That’s what we expect from him and we trained based on that,” he says in closing.

Invicto em 14 combates, Charles Oliveira “do Bronx” não tem descanso no UFC. Com duas finalizações nas primeiras lutas na organização, a última contra o campeão do TUF Efrain Escudero, Charles enfernta Jim Miller no próximo sábado, no Canadá, onde acontece o UFC 124.

“Estou muito feliz com o desempenho que venho tendo e quero fechar o ano com mais essa vitória. Estou treinando aqui no Canadá com o (Maurício, irmão de André Dida) Veio, que está nos ajudando bastante. A cidade é maravilhosa, estamos num hotel excelente. Estou 100% para a luta, focado, feliz e, quando estou assim, fica difícil de me bater. O Ericson e o Veio estão me passando muita energia positiva e estou pronto para a guerra. Quero mais essa vitória”, diz ao GRACIEMAG.com.

Miller vem numa série de cinco triunfos no UFC e, nas 18 vitórias do cartel (duas derrotas), finalizou em dez. Treinador de Charles na Bronx’s Gold Team, Ericson Cardoso fala do oponente do pupilo.

“O Jim Miller já mostrou que é um atleta perigoso, canhoto. Sempre pegamos os pontos falhos e acho que o Charles pode aproveitar a envergadura, já que é mais alto. Também acredito que o chão do Charles é superior. O Miller deu uma entrevista dizendo que é faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu, que tem que ser respeitado. Nunca desrespeitamos ninguém. Sabemos da qualidade do chão dele, mas sei mais ainda do meu aluno. Estamos preparados por cima ou por baixo”, analisa.

“O Miller é um cara completo, duro em cima e tem o chão bom. Acho que é mais técnico que o Escudero, por exemplo, e vem para cima. Ele vai tentar impor o ritmo, o que ainda não conseguiram contra o Charles no UFC. Isso é o que esperamos dele e treinamos para isso”, encerra.

All set for his September 15 challenge at UFN 22, and with his always slick Jiu-Jitsu, Charles had a conversation with GRACIEMAG.com:

The UFC quickly called you up for another fight, against a great fighter and in the co-main event. How does that make you feel?

I’m happy because my intention always was to fight the big names in the division.

What’s your breakdown on Efrain Escudero?

I feel he’s a really tough dude, who fights with a lot of heart. But I think Darren (last opponent) was more technical than he is.

You recently competed at a Jiu-Jitsu tourney (National Cup) and were brown belt champion. Do you intend to carry on competing in gi tournaments?

For sure, because it’s in my veins. Whenever I can, I’ll compete alongside my team, a true family.

What do Jiu-Jitsu championships like this one contribute to your MMA performance?

They keep up my rhythm and gas, since I have to do a number of matches on the same day and against better and better opponents.

What was it like to have your first fight in the UFC go so well, with the submission of the night?

It was a marvelous sensation and the result of lots of dedication in training. It lightened the burden of making my debut.

Last Monday the new headquarters of Bronx’s Gold Team, Charles’s team, was inaugurated in the city of Guarujá. The event counted more than sixty athletes in attendance, among them Cosmo Alexandre, Guto and Rodrigo Granola, among others. “I’m pleased with the new home and the most important part is that the athletes like it a lot. I’m certain a lot of champions will come out of here,” says trainer Ericson Cardozo.
