Another season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show comes to a close this coming Saturday, December 3, and there’s a Brazilian in the running to be one of the champions of the show’s 14th season.

A native of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, Diego Brandão has been turning heads with his performances on the program. The featherweight, who boasts 13 wins in his 20-fight career, knocked out three opponents in the first round. He will take on the USA’s Dennis Bermudez in the grand finale this Saturday. The veteran Yves Edwards is another of the evening’s attractions.

In the lightweight final John Dodson takes on TJ Dillashaw, while the coaches of the blue and orange teams, Michael Bisping and Jason Miller, will do battle in the world’s most famous cage.

O reality show The Ultimate Fighter, chega ao final de mais uma temporada neste sábado, dia 3 de dezembro e tem brasileiro no confronto que vai decidir o campeão da 14ª edição.

O amazonense Diego Brandão, mais conhecido por Ceará, vem impressionando no programa. O peso-pena nocauteou três oponentes no primeiro round e conta com 13 vitórias em 20 lutas na carreira. Ele vai enfrentar o americano Dennis Bermudez na finalíssima de sábado. O veterano Yves Edwards é outra atração.

Na divisão dos leves Jonh Dodson encara TJ Dillashaw, enquanto os treinadores das equipes azul e laranja, Michael Bisping e Jason Miller, vão se digladiar na gaiola mais famosa do mundo.

Depois de uma passagem no UFC prejudicada por uma série de lesões, Ronys Torres volta às origens. A fera do Amazonas vai fazer, em Manaus, a revanche contra Diego Ceará, lutador que costuma treinar com o renomado técnico Greg Jackson no Novo México. O combate acontece em setembro.   

“A expectativa é ótima. Fiquei um tempo descansando em Manaus, mas agora volto com força total. Uns dois ou três eventos me procuraram para fazer essa luta, mas acabamos acertando ela para o Manaus Show Combat. Vou tentar sair com mais uma vitória, se Deus quiser”, diz Ronys, que não luta desde março. 

“Precisava desse descanso, precisava dar uma relaxada. Vinha num ritmo muito forte de treinamento. Saí do UFC 109 e lutei logo em seguida, então foi um período curto, que me deixou debilitado. Agora volto com tudo.”

Sem mágoas pela passagem no UFC, Ronys analisa tudo como uma grande experiência. Entretanto, o sonho não vai parar. 

“A experiência foi grande. É um evento enorme e a pressão também. Estou feliz de ter realizado esse sonho e vou lutar para voltar. Não vou deixar meus sonhos morrerem nunca, continuarei fazendo o trabalho que sempre fiz aqui no Brasil e devem aparecer outros eventos lá fora para eu lutar também. Vou fazer de tudo para voltar”, avisa. 

“Vinha num ritmo forte no Brasil e, quando entrei no UFC, tive que operar o joelho e depois o olho. Isso me deu uma quebrada, sem dúvida. Lutei bem contra o Melvin Guillard e depois não fui bem contra o Jacob Volkmann. Mas sigo com a cabeça erguida, focado na minha próxima luta”, encerra a fera da Nova União.

After a stint in the UFC hampered by a string of injuries, Ronys Torres is back to his roots. The beast from the Brazilian state of Amazonas will have a rematch in Manaus with Diego Ceará, a fighter who often trains at renowned coach Greg Jackson in New Mexico. The bout is set for September.

“I have great expectations. I spent some time resting in Manaus, but now I’m back at full force. Two or three events came to me to put together this fight, but we ended up setting it up for Manaus Show Combat. I’m looking to get another win, God willing,” says Ronys, who hasn’t fought since March.

“I needed this rest, needed to relax. I had been keeping a high pace in training. I fought again right after UFC 109, so it was a short period of time, which left me debilitated. Now I’m back in full swing.”

With no hard feelings about having left the UFC, Ronys sees it all as a great experience. However, the dream continues.

“It was a great experience. It’s a huge event and the pressure’s huge, too. I’m happy to have lived the dream and I’m going to fight to get back there. I’ll never let my dreams die, I’ll keep doing what I always did here in Brazil and some other events abroad should crop up for me to fight at, too. I’m going to do all it takes to be back,” he states.

“I was keeping a high pace in Brazil and when I entered the UFC, I had to operate my knee and then my eye. That broke my rhythm, without a doubt. I fought well against Melvin Guillard and then didn’t do well against Jacob Volkmann. But I keep my head high, focused on my next fight,” says the beast from Nova União in closing.
