The runner-up at the 2011 Brazilian Nationals, BTT black belt Leonardo Saggioro got himself to the pinnacle of the podium this year. The Ricardo Marques student submitted everyone in his path on the way to the title, thrice via triangle and once with a choke from the back.

“My performance couldn’t have been better. I had a sense that it was my day, was confident in my training and ready for war. I had four matches and got the finish in all of them,” reported the fighter.

Vice-campeão brasileiro em 2011, o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu da BTT Leonardo Saggioro conseguiu subir no alto do pódio este ano. O aluno de Ricardo Marques finalizou geral para chegar ao título, três vezes com o triângulo e uma com o estrangulamento pelas costas.

“Meu desempenho foi o melhor possível, me senti no meu dia, confiante nos meus treinos e pronto para a guerra. Fiz quatro lutas e finalizei todas”, conta o lutador.

The diminutive world-champion duo promises to brighten up the Tijuca Tennis Club this Saturday.

On IBJJF.com’s list of those confirmed for the Brazilian Team nationals, Guilherme and Rafael Mendes are among those in the lineup. Team member Gilbert Durinho is another to confirm the siblings will see action.

The presence of current featherweight world champion Rafael and 2009’s light featherweight world champion Gui catapults team Atos to favorite status for the competition in one of the most visible divisions: the adult-lightweight division of the brown-and-black belt category.

Está lá na lista de confirmados para o Brasileiro de Equipes, no site Ibjjf.org, para quem quiser ver: Guilherme e Rafael Mendes estão entre os nomes inscritos. Membro da equipe, Gilbert Durinho também confirma que os irmãos estarão em ação.

A presença do atual campeão mundial dos penas (Rafael) e o campeão mundial dos plumas de 2009 (Gui) alça a equipe Atos à condição de uma das grandes favoritas da competição, numa das categorias de maior visibilidade – o adulto leve da faixa-marrom e preta.
