O World Series of Fighting teve sua segunda edição na noite deste sábado, 23 de março, em Atlantic City, no estado de Nova Jersey. Doze combates movimentaram o evento, que teve seis brasileiros no card.

A noite não foi de todo verde e amarela, mas as lutas foram de altíssimo nível e surpreenderam o público. Veja os destaques:

Igor Gracie machuca o ombro esquerdo e não é autorizado a voltar para o segundo round

Na quarta luta do WSOF 2, Igor Gracie encarou Rick Patishnock. O faixa preta de Jiu-Jitsu não deu chances para o adversário e logo levou a luta para o chão tendo várias chances de finalização. Ao fim do round, Igor machucou o ombro esquerdo e não foi autorizado pelo médico a voltar para a luta.

Pulga sofre primeira derrota na carreira

O pena Alexandre “Pulga” era o favorito para vencer o combate contra Rick Glenn. O brasileiro conseguiu impor seu jogo e ganhar os dois primeiros round, mas o boxe afiado de Glenn falou mais alto e americano acabou nocauteando Alexandre no terceiro round.

Danillo “Índio” Villefort faz combate apertado, mas vence Kris McCray

A primeira vitória brasileira do WSOF 2 foi bem suada. Danillo começou bem o combate e teve até a chance de finalizar o adversário no primeiro round. Já mais cansado nos minutos seguintes foi a vez do americano castigar “Índio”. Partindo para o tudo ou nada no terceiro round, o brasileiro aceitou a luta em pé e acabou abrindo mais um ponto de diferença sobre o adversário. Por decisão dividida Danillo ficou com a vitória.

Gesias Cavalcante sofre um corte na testa e luta é interrompida

Gesias Cavalcante é conhecido por seu estilo agressivo no MMA, e ao que tudo indica Justin Gaethje fez a lição de casa e veio preparado para o brasileiro.

Justin começou melhor o combate, partindo pra cima de Gesias e magoando bastante seu rosto. Os golpes potentes acabaram abrindo um corte na testa do lutador, ocasionando um sangramento abundante. A luta foi interrompida pelo árbitro e por decisão médica Gesias não foi autorizado a continuar o duelo. Justin Gaethje venceu por nocaute técnico, aos dois minutos e 20 segundos do primeiro round.

Burkman vence Aaron Simpson e é o próximo adversário de Jon Fitch no WSOF 3

Os ex-lutadores do UFC se enfrentaram na categoria dos meio-médios do WSOF, já cientes de que quem vencesse o combate seria o próximo oponente de Jon Fitch em sua estréia na organização, em junho. Josh Burkman partiu com tudo para cima de Aaron Simpson, e com uma bela joelhada nocauteou o adversário logo no primeiro round.

Paulão Filho sofre mais uma derrota e levanta polêmica sobre sua atuação no MMA

Paulo Filho não vem em uma boa fase de sua carreira e isso tem gerado diversas críticas sobre a atuação do brasileiro nos cages. No WSOF 2, Paulo lutou contra David Branch, que conseguiu levar o adversário para o chão e massacrá-lo no ground and pound durante os 15 minutos. Ao final do combate, nas redes sociais só se falava sobre o rumo que a carreira de Paulão tomou e o que o lutador deveria fazer para sair dessa. Não se pode negar o quanto Paulo Filho é guerreiro, afinal, mesmo superior no combate, David Branch não foi capaz de nocauteá-lo.

Marlon Moraes brilha no muay thai e vence no primeiro round

Marlon Moraes enfrentou Tyson Nam no muay thai do WSOF 2. Muito seguro, Marlon começou a luta chutando e medindo a distância do adversário. A 2min55s do primeiro round, o brasileiro achou o momento perfeito, chutou alto e não deu outra: nocauteou Tyson Nam.

Anthony Johnson estreia com o pé direito nos pesos pesados e vence Andrei Arlovski

Talvez não fosse o combate que todos gostariam de ver. A luta durou os 3 rounds, e em alguns momentos foi bastante amarrada por Anthony Johnson. Mas esta foi a estratégia perfeita que o Blackzilian encontrou para vencer. O americano começou mais agressivo, acertando bons golpes que quase nocautearam Arlovski. O queixo duro do bielorusso surpreendeu, e ele continuou o segundo round firme e forte, mas Johson ainda estava mais contundente. No terceiro round foi só administrar a vantagam. O americano clinchou e manteve Arlovski na grade, afinal ele também já estava muito cansado. A decisão foi unânime a favor de Anthony Johnson.

Without Paulo Filho, the whereabouts of whom the organizers didn’t know until not long ago, Bitetti Combat went ahead as planned in the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium, in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia.

In the presence of masters from various tribes, like Euclides Pereira, Ricardo Libório, Arthur Virgílio, Gesias Cavalcante, Marcos Parrumpinha, Paulo Nikolai and so many others, the fighters put on a show in the cage.

CM System’s Cristiano Marcello left nothing to chance in sinking the quickest submission of the night, slapping an armbar on his Argentine opponent Cobra, who tried to strike him through the guard.

Soon thereafter, local boy Danillo Indio Villefort was not to be left. Against Cassiano Tytschyo, the fighter from the ATT landed a powerful punch that dropped his opponent to the canvas. His finish came even quicker – just 57 seconds into the bout.

But Yuri Villefort (ATT), 19, also brought joy to his father, old master Francisco Indio, a former security officer for the Senate and former president Jose Sarney. With strong striking and a solid chin, Yuri sunk a triangle, foot locks and mounted while a valiant Julio Cesar Merenda (Tata) responded with counterstrikes standing and by resisting on the ground.

Earlier, the surprise was Francisco Massaranduba’s win over Junior “Buscape” Firmino in the first round. Massaranduba landed on bottom, but quickly spun for a kneebar. From there, he landed a foot lock and twisted out the former Pride fighter’s knee, causing him to leave the ring limping.

In the final fight of the night, after Glover Teixeira put away a valient Joaquim “Mamute” Ferreira in the second round, it was Thales Leites’s turn to get a first-round finish on American rasta Rico Washington.
After finishing with his trademark arm-and-neck choke, Thales ran to celebrate in the arms of his Nova União teammates, Rizzo, André Pederneiras and João Roque, and also was presented a trophy by Senator Virgilio.

If the unpredictable Paulao was a no show, another blow the event suffered was losing Fabio Maldonado, who was injured and unable to face Guto Inocente.

Among the bouts scheduled for Bitetti Combat 6, one in particular should get the crowd in Brasilia’s Nilson Nelson gymnasium especially fired up this coming 25^th. Hometown boy and American Top Team representative Danillo “Indio” Villefort will have one of the hottest prospects of Brasil’s latest new generation of MMA fighter ahead of him, Cassiano Tytschyo.

“I watched some of his fights and the guy’s really tough; he’s been winning all his fights. The fight has all the makings of being great, now it’s just up to us. I’m ready and he is, too, so let’s do our jobs,” he remarks.

Danillo, who has experience in such major organizations as the UFC and IFL, is pleased with the chance to fight in Brasilia.

“I’m really happy and can only thank Amaury for the opportunity to fight at home, which is a dream come true. I’m really happy about that and I won’t let the fans down,” he guarantees.

However, on his stance going into the fight with Tytschyo, he prefers to keep it a mystery.

“He has his strategy and I have mine. Wherever the fight goes I’ll be ready,” he says.

Fans attending Bitetti Combat Brasilia, at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium on the 25^th of this month, can expect a tough bout between game MMA fighters. Cassiano Tytschyo, from small-town Sao Paulo, will be looking to beat hometown boy Danillo “Indio” Villefort. At the last installment of the championship, held in December, in Barueri, Sao Paulo, the Sao Paulo native overcame the United States’ Chan Williams via submission, the second time he wins by guillotine choke in the organization.

In Brasilia, the young fighter intends to repeat his recipe for success, and guarantees he has been fully dedicated to training, to do so. “I’ve been practicing all the arts of MMA. I’m preparing like I always do,” he explained.

Cassiano knows he has a tough opponent ahead of him. “My opponent has lots of international experience, in events like the IFL, WEC and UFC. He’s from American Top Team. I feel he’s a really tough fighter, who will be fighting at home. I’m sure it will be a great fight.”

With 39 fights on his record, Sasaki has fought in other major organizations such as UFC, Pride and Sengoku, among others. He has wins over the likes of Japanese idol Yuki Kondo on his CV.

Paulão, who has only lost once in his career, will be making his third appearance in the last three Bitetti Combat events.

“We tried to bring in Sakuraba, but, unfortunately, it won’t be this time.  Sasaki has a great deal of experience and has already said he’s coming to win, “says event organizer Fernando Miranda.

Bitetti Combat takes place February 25, in Brasilia. On Wednesday, Amaury Bitetti announced yet another beast who will adorn the card.  Danillo “Indio” Villefort’s will face up-and-comer Cassiano Tytschyo.

“Indio was going to face Felipe Arinelli (Mongo), but we swapped him for Tytschyo. Felipe remains on the card and we’re looking for an opponent for him.  Tytschyo fought really well at the last two events and I think this fight with Indio has just what it takes to be a great fight,” Bitetti bets.

Cassiano Tytschyo, one of the great revelations of Brazilian domestic MMA of recent times, finished his fights in his two appearances at Bitetti Combat,with a snug guillotine on both occasions.  Danillo “Indio” is an American Top Team representative and has appeared in such events as the IFL, WEC and UFC.

“We’re almost done making the card and we still have more news to announce,” says promoter Fernando Miranda in finishing.

This week Alex Hooligan, the man responsible for negotiating with Japanese fighters for the event, travelled to the Land of the Rising Sun to try and seal a deal with the Japanese fighter.

Yuki Kondo, who holds victories over such stiff competition as Zé Mário Sperry, Saulo Ribeiro and Semmy Schilt, is another Japanese standout who may feature at the event.

“Sakuraba has already said he’ll fight and Paulão too. All that’s left to do is come to financial terms.  Yuki Kondo also wants to come over and we’ll try and bring the both of them. But I’m warning that nothing is set in stone, so far it’s just negotiations we’re optimistic about because the fighters have shown real interest. If he doesn’t face Sakuraba, Paulão should fight Marvin Eastman. But we will do everything to bring the two Japanese fighters over, ” Amaury Bitetti told GRACIEMAG.com.

If Sakuraba and Kondo are just possibilities, the prosecutor confirmed the opponent of Fabio Maldonado.

” Fabio fights Valentijn Overeem. We wanted to match Overeem with Pedro Rizzo, but Pedrão won’t be able to fight in Brasilia, “he says.
