Our GMA member in Chicago, the black belt André “Negão” Terencio is one of the countless teachers working tirelessly to spread Jiu-Jitsu in their communities. Last weekend his team, Brazil 021, added some more triumphs to the rack, and being the good GMA he is, he sent the news in to us so we could share it with the Jiu-Jitsu planet.

Last Saturday, Hannette Staack held a major seminar at RCJ Machado academy in Dallas, Texas. “It was a great success, and the publicity on GRACIEMAG.com had a huge impact on participant numbers,” he stated.

Now on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro the team took second place in the overall standings at Copa Carlson Gracie, the third leg in the Rio circuit.

“We competed against over 60 other academies, and this second place wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for all the Brazil 021 cells joining forces, especially the groups at Ilha de Paquetá and Borel. The latter, in Tijuca, has only been around for a year and three months, and there’s also an important social-outreach aspect to it,” underscored André.

Membro da nossa GMA em Chicago, o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu André “Negão” Terencio é um dos inúmeros professores que trabalham em prol do Jiu-Jitsu e de sua comunidade. No último fim de semana, sua equipe Brazil 021 colecionou alguns triunfos, e como bom GMA, ele mandou as novidades para divulgarmos para o planeta Jiu-Jitsu.

No último sábado, Hannette Staack realizou um grande seminário na academia RCJ Machado, em Dallas, Texas. “O aulão foi um sucesso, e a divulgação no GRACIEMAG.com teve um impacto muito grande no número de participantes”, destacou.

Já no domingo, o time conquistou no Rio de Janeiro o segundo lugar na classificação geral na Copa Carlson Gracie, terceira etapa do circuito carioca.

“Disputamos com mais de 60 academias e este segundo lugar não seria possível sem a união de todos os núcleos da Brazil 021 em solo brasileiro, principalmente o time da Ilha de Paquetá e do Borel. Este último, no morro da Tijuca, começou a funcionar há apenas um ano e três meses e tem também um importante lado social”, ressaltou André.

And the fruits began to be reaped last weekend. Trained by Kyra Gracie, the kids competed at the Rio State Championship, and returned home flashing medals and smiles.

“We took the kids of Frei Gaspar to compete at their first Jiu-Jitsu championship, the Ryan Gracie No-Gi State Championship & 2^nd Carlson Gracie Tournament. We only picked the ones displaying exemplary behavior, and we were rigorous in our criteria,” says Bruno Neves.

“Of the 130 students, we made a list of the 50 that deserved to go because of their behavior in Jiu-Jitsu class. However, after consulting their teachers in other disciplines, we made a bigger cut and took only 16,” says the musician,” who pointed out that, despite the rigorous selection process, the NGO noted sensible behavior from everyone when it comes to being a good citizen, education and respect.

In the black belt division, the absolute champion was Fabrício Prantera; at brown Manoel Oliveira took the title; at purple it was Bruno Iglessias; while at blue Murillo Sabino and foreigner Steven Muldrow closed out for Carlson’s school.

The event was attended by such illustrious figures as Kyra Gracie, Amaury Bitetti and Carlson’s son, Junior Gracie.

Further standouts in the Carlson Gracie Cup were Kim Terra (Check Mat), winner of the lightweight division, and Marcelo “Vanuza” Toscano (Carlson Gracie), who closed out the super heavyweight division with Fabrício Prantera. In the master category, Fabio Alves (Brazilian Fight) took weight and absolute, while teammate Osiris Maia came out on top in the medium heavyweight / senior division.
In the overall team scores of the Ryan Gracie No-Gi tournament, Gracie Humaitá took first, followed by BTT and GFTeam.

Aconteceu no último sábado, no Iate Clube Jardim Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro, a Copa Carlson Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu e o Estadual Ryan Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu sem Kimono, competições da FJJ-Rio. Na Copa Carlson, apesar de a campeã ter sido a Gracie Humaitá, um dos grandes destaques foi a academia que traz o nome do homenageado. Em segundo lugar no geral, a Carlson Gracie venceu todos os absolutos da faixa-azul a preta. Em terceiro veio a Brazilian Fight.

Na faixa-preta, o campeão absoluto foi Fabrício Prantera; na marrom o melhor foi Manoel Oliveira; na faixa-roxa venceu Bruno Iglessias; enquanto na azul fecharam pela escola de Carlson Murillo Sabino e o atleta estrangeiro Steven Muldrow.

O evento contou com presenças ilustres como Kyra Gracie, o bicampeão mundial absoluto Amaury Bitetti e o filho de Carlson, Júnior Gracie.

Parentes próximos e amigos de Carlson prestigiaram o evento

Ainda na Copa Carlson Gracie, se destacaram na faixa-preta Kim Terra (CheckMat), campeão no peso leve, e Marcelo Toscano “Vanuza” (Carlson Gracie), que fechou o superpesado com Fabrício Prantera. No máster, Fabio Alves (Brazilian Fight) levou peso e absoluto, enquanto o companheiro de equipe Osiris Maia foi o melhor no meio-pesado senior.

No Estadual sem kimono Ryan Gracie a melhor entre as equipes foi novamente a Gracie Humaitá, seguida pela BTT e GFTeam.

Com mais de mil inscritos, acontece neste sábado, no Iate Clube Jardim Guanabara, no Rio, a Copa Carlson Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu e o Estadual Ryan Gracie sem Kimono. Os eventos são organizados pela FJJ-Rio e valem para o ranking anual da entidade.

As competições são em homenagem a dois membros da família que já faleceram, mas jamais serão esquecidos. Os cronogramas e chaves já estão disponíveis no site da FJJ-Rio (clique aqui).

Filho de Carlson, Junior vai comparecer ao evento. A sua equipe, Carlson Gracie, entra na competição com mais de 90 atletas, comandados pelos professores Marcelo Saporito e Alan Moraes.

“Vou ao evento. Eles estão fazendo essa homenagem ao meu pai e vai ser bem bacana”, comenta Carlson Gracie Jr.
