Kyra Gracie’s mind and body are focused entirely on capturing a third ADCC title, in the under-60kg division, this September in Nottingham, England.

Once her submission grappling endeavor is out of the way, though Robson Gracie’s grandaughter will likely venture into the territory where, as the master would put it, daughters cry and their mothers aren’t there to see, MMA. In the audience at yesterday’s Clube da Luta event, where her grandfather made a speech, Kyra confirmed that she’s been considering offers from a few MMA promotions.

“It’s true, I’m negotiating to do a fight at a big event in Singapore, where I’m heading to train some at Evolve. I’m dying to make my MMA debut,” remarked Kyra, who has also heard offers linked to Strikeforce.

So don’t be surprised to see Kyra still taking on the competition without her gi after her September commitment is over. Next time, though, punches and kicks will count.

A mente e o corpo de Kyra Gracie estão voltados para buscar o tricampeonato do ADCC, na divisão até 60kg, em setembro, em Nottingham, Inglaterra.

Depois do submission, no entanto, a neta de Robson Gracie deve se aventurar naquele terreno em que a filha chora e a mãe não vê, o MMA. Na plateia do Clube da Luta, ontem, onde o avô discursou, Kyra confirmou que está ouvindo propostas de algumas organizações de MMA.

“É verdade, estou negociando para fazer uma luta num evento grande em Cingapura, aonde vou para treinar um pouco, na Evolve. A vontade de fazer minha estreia no MMA está grande”, comentou Kyra, que também ouviu propostas ligadas ao Strikeforce americano.

Depois de setembro, portanto, não se espante ao ver Kyra continuar atuando sem kimono. Desta vez, porém, valendo socos e chutes.

Blood and grit marked the under 77kg GP, won by the heavy-handed Hernani Perpétuo. The André Pederneiras understudy saw blood – and his own, at that – when taking on Edilberto Crocotá in the grand prix final, with a gash on his head that stubbornly poured blood throughout the three-round affair.

Perpétuo showed his warrior spirit with every cut check, imploring the ref not to stop the fight, “Please don’t stop the fight,” he’d plead. Deftly moving around the cage, the Nova União striking specialist dominated the fight, getting the better of the standup action in all three rounds. In the last few seconds of the fight, to add further luster to the achievement, he held out against a snug guillotine choke while his blood bathed the cage canvas.

Delson Pé de Chumbo stepped in for an injured Murilo Bustamante in the card’s international matchup and left no one disappointed. Despite giving up some weight to Deep champion Yuya Shirai, the Jiu-Jitsu world champion took the tournament belt via judges’ decision.

Now Glover Teixeira left nothing to chance, completely annulling two-time absolute world champion Márcio Pé de Pano’s ground game. With perfectly-timed sprawls and keen to Pé de Pano’s intentions on the ground, Glover kept the fight mostly standing but wrapped up the match unleashing a second-round barrage of ground and pound till the ref stepped in.

Two-time UFC fighter Ronys Torres put his Jiu-Jitsu to good use. Following a takedown set up by a well-placed left hook, the native of the town of Manacapuru, etched into the Amazon rain forest, looked to have cinched the win with a rear-naked choke but ended the one-sided affair with a straight-armed kimura, all in the first round. The fight between Toninho Fúria and Alexandre Chaminho came to a premature halt during the break between the second and third rounds. Fúria saw the better side of the action in the opener, while Chambinho drew even in the second, but a knee injury kept him from returning for the tie-breaking third.

Sangue e raça marcaram o GP até 77 kg, onde triunfou o mão-pesada Hernani Perpétuo. O fiel escudeiro de André Pederneiras mostrou sangue nos olhos e também na cabeça – ele disputou a grande final, contra Edilberto Crocotá, com um corte profundo que teimava em abrir e derramar sangue.

O guerreiro não desistiu e, a cada interrupção, implorava: “Não parem a luta, por favor”. Com muita movimentação, a fera da Nova União dominou os três assaltos, sempre melhor na trocação. Nos últimos segundos, para abrilhantar ainda mais a conquista, ele resistiu a uma guilhotina encaixadíssima, que melou de sangue a jaula armada na terra dos valentes.

Delson Pé de Chumbo substituiu Murilo Bustamante na luta internacional e não decepcionou. Mesmo sentindo um pouco a briga contra a balança em cima da hora, o campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu mandou bem contra o campeão do Deep Yuya Shirai, e levou o cinturão do torneio por decisão dos jurados.

Já Glover Teixeira, como dizem, não deu chance ao azar, e anulou o jogo de chão do bicampeão mundial absoluto Marcio Pé de Pano. Com a esparramada em dia, Glover não foi derrubado e dominou em pé, além de maltratar no ground and pound e soltar a marreta até o juiz interromper no segundo round.

Ex-lutador do UFC, Ronys Torres colocou o Jiu-Jitsu em prática. Depois de aplicar um quedaço, o manacapuruense tentou um mata-leão. Mas a vitória veio com uma kimura muito bem encaixada, tudo isso no primeiro round. A luta entre Toninho Fúria e Alexandre Chambinho acabou no intervalo do segundo para o terceiro assalto. No embate, Fúria foi melhor na primeira parcial, já Chambinho equilibrou as ações na segunda etapa, mas uma lesão no joelho impediu seu retorno para o derradeiro round.

Weigh-ins for Clube da Luta, a star-studded MMA spectacle to go down this evening in Rio de Janeiro, were held yesterday at Bar do Oswaldo bar without a hitch. The watering hole, which these days deals in whole foods as well, did a fine job of hosting the stars of the show and the more than special guests, like Senator Acelino Popó and international model and Jiu-Jitsu black belt Paulo Zulu.

Overseeing the weigh-ins was another black belt, Olivar Leite, an ever present figure at MMA events throughout Brazil.

“Everyone made weight, and the show’s promoter, Alexandre Salim, announced there will be bonuses for the night’s standouts,” said Olivar. “Fight of the night will pay out 5,000 reais (2,500 each), best submission gets 2,500, and best knockout will pay 2,500,” he elaborated.

Clube da Luta will be held at the Via Show concert hall starting at 9pm Brazil time. The star-filled card will be broadcast domestically on TV, as well as internationally via internet, at a cost of US$ 9.99. Besides getting to watch live, the fights will be available for viewing for a few days following event.

A pesagem do Clube da Luta, ontem, no templo dos beberrões Bar do Oswaldo foi um sucesso. O bar, que hoje investe em comidas naturais também, recebeu bem os astros do espetáculo e convidados mais que especiais, como o deputado Acelino Popó e o modelo internacional e faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu Paulo Zulu.

Na condução da pesagem, outro faixa-preta, a figuraça Olivar Leite, maranhense adotado pelo Rio de Janeiro.

“Todos bateram o peso, e o organizador Alexandre  Salim anunciou premiações para os destaques da noite”, contou Olivar. “A melhor luta da noite vai pagar 5 mil reais (2.500 para cada), a melhor finalização paga 2.500 e o melhor nocaute dá 2.500 ao autor do golpe”, completou.

O Clube da Luta rola hoje, no Via Show, a partir de 21h. Com um card repleto de astros, o evento vai contar com transmissão nacional e internacional, via internet, por apenas US$9,99. Além de assistir ao vivo, o fã terá o conteúdo disponível por mais alguns dias após os combates.

Some unfortunate news arose this morning, but Clube da Luta’s promoters were quick to act. Following Murilo Bustamante’s withdrawal due to injury, Roberto Gordo and team reshuffled the card to replace the veteran with 2002 Jiu-Jitsu world champion Delson “Pé de Chumbo” Heleno for the main event against Yuya Shirai this coming Wednesday.

Announcement of the injury was made via Twitter by @murilobusta: “Due to an injury incurred last week that I have been treating since, unfortunately without success, I will not fight at Clube da Luta.”

“This is a very sad moment for me, as it would have been a dream come true to fight in Brazil after 14 years fighting abroad. I am thankful to the promoters for their understanding and I ask the forgiveness of the fans who were expecting me on the card. I will, however, be there on the day to watch the fights at this event that, to me, is the greatest MMA event ever held in the country,” said Murilo over Twitter.

“Besouro and Gil Freitas, who were previously scheduled to fight Pé de Chumbo, were injured, so the decision was the right one,” Gordo told GRACIEMAG.com this morning. Pé de Chumbo, who would have fought as a welterweight (77kg), agreed to fight at 82kg.

A (má) notícia surgiu hoje de manhã, mas a organização do Clube da Luta agiu rápido. Após Murilo Bustamante (BTT) informar uma contusão durante os treinos, Roberto Gordo e staff remanejaram o campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu (2002) Delson Heleno, o Pé de Chumbo, para a luta principal, nesta quarta-feira, contra o japonês Shirai.

O anúncio da lesão foi feito pelo Twitter de @murilobusta: “Devido a uma contusão sofrida na última semana, que venho tratando desde então, infelizmente sem sucesso, não lutarei no Clube da Luta”.

“É um momento muito triste pra mim, pois estaria realizando o sonho de voltar a lutar nos ringues do Brasil depois de 14 anos lutando no exterior. Agradeço a compreensão dos organizadores do evento e peço desculpa aos fãs que contavam com minha presença no card. Porém estarei lá no dia prestigiando e assitindo às lutas daquele que, para mim, é o maior e melhor evento de MMA realizado no país”, twittou Murilo.

“O Besouro e o Gil Freitas, então oponentes do Pé de Chumbo, se machucaram em sequência, então foi a decisão mais acertada”, reportou Gordo esta manhã, ao GRACIEMAG.com. O teresopolitano Pé de Chumbo, que lutaria até 77kg, topou subir para 82kg sem problemas.

Vai ser chumbo contra aço. Após uma contusão que tirou Junior Besouro do card do Clube da Luta, o card manteve o nível: Delson Pé de Chumbo agora enfrenta o queixo de aço Gil de Freitas.

Depois da baixa sofrida com a contusão do levinho Luciano Azevedo o líder da RFT, Márcio Cromado, lamentou a saída do card também do seu atleta Luis Besouro, pelo mesmo motivo que Luciano: contusão durante os treinos.
