Valente Bros graduate first two female black belts during ceremony that gathered 500+ students

The Valente Brothers held a massive belt ceremony last Monday, Dec. 7.

With the special presences of Grandmaster Pedro Valente and Royce Gracie, Pedro, Guilherme and Joaquim welcomed more than 500 students for the awarding of new belts and ceremonies.

Among all the students that got new belts, two deserve a special mention.

Sisters, Hannah Basel and Regis Giles became the first females to pass the black belt test by GM Pedro Valente.

Hannah and Regis have been with the Valentes since the youth program.

Valente brothers hold 2013 winter belt ceremony with 400 students

On Dec. 10, the Valente brothers held a winter belt ceremony that brought together both Valente Brothers students and Royce Gracie students for a grand total of 400 in attendance to the Valente Brothers Headquarters in North Miami Beach, FL.

The ceremony had two special guests as well: Grandmaster Pedro Valente and Royce Gracie.

The day marked the 20-year anniversary of Professor Pedro’s arrival to Miami, the 20-year anniversary of Royce Gracie’s first UFC title and the 60-year anniversary of the friendship between the two families.

Fifteen students were presented their ultimate promotion of black belt among many other promotions.

GMA Cavalcanti Carlson Gracie Team earns new belts and visit from Santa Claus

Last Saturday Dec. 14, GMA Cavalcanti Carlson Gracie Training Center had a record breaking promotion ceremony with 175 promotions.

For the first time Ricardo Cavalcanti promoted members of the team who have been with him since they were five years old now at the age of sixteen.

Robert Alvarez, Cierra Smith, Chase Balasbas, Christian Shaughnessy, Matt Kamminga, and Sonny Kamminga all received their blue belts.

For the first time there were five team members promoted to brown belt:

Bryan Calleros, Chris Howey, Joshua Monsiavis, David Troy, and Bear Smith.

Also at the ceremony his son Romulo Cavalcanti and Steve Pellegrino received their black belts. Robert Lagasca was promoted to first degree black belt. Also, Michael Alvarez, thirteen, who was invited to the Battle for the Ages tournament in Texas, was promoted to green belt.

In attendance at the ceremony was Rose Gracie, old friend of Ricardo Cavalcanti, who came to represent Carlson Gracie and present Professor Cavalcanti with a gift, Javier Vasquez, and also special guest Santa “Cavalcanti” Claus who came all way from the North Pole to bring gifts, candy, and joy to the younger students.

GMA Claudio Franca promotes around 400 students on graduation day Nov. 16

GMA member Claudio Franca of Claudio Franca BJJ in Santa Cruz, CA celebrated a graduation day on Nov. 16 at the Santa Cruz High School. There were around 400 students total that received promotions.

The schools that were in attendance include: Claudio Franca Santa Cruz, Claudio Franca San Jose, Claudio Franca Watsonville, Gilroy BJJ, Kugtar MMA, Scott Savage BJJ, Martial Arts Institute, Zeus BJJ, Raul Castilho MMA.

Of the students promoted, eight of them received their black belts:

Cory Glenn
David Gassway
John Tole
John Villareal
Rafael Eboli
Tony Vida
Waldemar Rock
Charlene Coats

Those that received their first degree on their black belt:

Caren Cablin

Scott Savage

Tyson Kamp

And Daniel Thomas received his third degree on his black belt.

The Valente Brothers, from Gracie Miami, held a huge belt ceremony recently.

They had the presence of Royce Gracie, graduated 14 students to the black belt and were also honored with the keys to the city of North Miami Beach.
