The son of the late Grandmaster Carlson Gracie (1933-2006), Junior was in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco last weekend to teach a highly sought-after seminar at team Gutenberg Melo, the Carlson Gracie team branch in those parts. The black belt taught control techniques, side-control escapes, choke attacks, the traditional americana, knee-on-belly and sweeps, not to mention lettting GRACIEMAG.com in one the greatest teachings he received from his grandmaster father: “The lesson is to never think you’re the best, and most of all to never think you know everything. There’s always something left to learn in Jiu-Jitsu,” said “Juninho”, as he is known. “I hope that wherever my father is today he is happy with the work I’m doing. I want to always honor my father’s name through my work in Jiu-Jitsu.”

Filho do saudoso grande mestre Carlson Gracie (1933-2006), Juninho esteve em Pernambuco no último fim de semana, para ministrar um concorrido seminário na equipe Gutenberg Melo, filial da equipe Carlson Gracie por lá. O faixa-preta ensinou técnicas de controle e escape de imobilização, ataques de estrangulamento, a tradicional americana, joelho na barriga e raspagens, além de conceder uma entrevista ao GRACIEMAG.com.

No bate-papo, o professor falou sobre a reorganização da equipe que venceu as competições de Jiu-Jitsu por décadas e revelou alguns dos primeiros campeões de MMA do país. Ele falou do filhão japonês e comentou sobre o principal ensinamento e o grande momento vivido ao lado de seu pai “poderoso”.

“A lição é nunca achar que você é o melhor, e principalmente não achar que você já sabe tudo. Há sempre algo a aprender no Jiu-Jitsu”, ensinou Juninho. “Espero que onde quer que meu pai esteja ele hoje seja feliz e esteja satisfeito com meu trabalho. Quero sempre honrar o nome do meu pai com meu trabalho no Jiu-Jitsu”.
