Nesta aula, ensinada por Rickson ao faixa-preta Jake Mckee, o faixa-coral reforça a importância da frieza e tranquilidade. Como o de erguer preventivamente as mãos ao sentir a aproximação de um agressor em potencial, quando se está num bar, numa escola ou num local qualquer.

Rickson chama atenção para os detalhes ditos invisíveis da arte, como a posição correta do tronco e dos pés.

Como o professor alerta, em muitos casos você tomar a dianteira na briga, procurando manter uma base ao estilo do boxe – com um pé à frente – pode precipitar uma briga, já que indica claramente que você está querendo chutar ou socar.

Rickson ensina que o ideal é manter os pés paralelos, mas com um detalhe essencial: o peso do seu corpo deve estar não no seu calcanhar, mas voltado para a frente, nos dedos dos pés. É o que evita que você seja empurrado longe.

A arte de pesar não é restrita aos pés e pernas, mas também aos braços, como Rickson demonstra ao defender um tapão na cara (ali aos 8min do vídeo).

Por fim, para se livrar de um agressor que vem por trás na crocodilagem, Rickson mostra a importância de jogar o quadril para trás, “sentando no sofá” para tirar a base do inimigo e aumentar a eficiência da queda (13min).

On Dec. 21 many gathered at GMA Gracie Barra Corona to raise money for typhoon Haiyan relief. The event collected donations in the form of cash, canned food and clothing to send to the Philippines in the wake of the natural disaster that hit the island last month.

In attendance were black belts who helped teach: Gustavo Pires, Kayron Gracie, Juan Pablo Garcia, Budo Jake and more. A raffle took place with gear from sponsors as well.

GB Corona says: “The event was a huge success, a whole lot of fun and a great reminder of the momentum being developed for social potential that our art has and will continue to develop in our communities and the world!”
