The leader of Team Anderson Pereira, in Switzerland, congratulated his team for a very successful run at the recent Copa Neuchatel, last weekend.

On his Facebook page, Pereira expressed his joy: “Bravo guys, the season started well with the 1st place in Neuchatel. Bravo o everyone, teachers, athletes and suporters.”

The recent years has been of apparently peace, but the tension and is still there, as well as thousands of landmines that continue to kill and maim.

Last week, the world was shocked by the attack against the Togolese National soccer Team, just before the kick off of the African Cup of Nations. Rebels of the Cabinda province claimed responsability for the action.

But, there’s hope and Jiu-Jitsu is a small but important part of it. Our GMA Anderson Pereira, of BTT Geneve, in Switzerland, has joined forces with also black belts Andre Negao and Angolan Olavo Belo to help the country.

Anderson explains: “We are cooperating to raise clothes and toys for kids. The idea is to fill a container.  Olavo is the first Angolan BJJ blackbelt and so he was invited to teach some seminars in his country for a whole month. The help should arrive in Luanda in march.”

Anderson invites other Jiu-Jitsu professors to join the campaign.

The hard work is already showing results, as Pereira tells us:

“Last November a 11 year old girl from Morocco, Sofia Essakhi, competed at the Swiss Cup and won. Four other kids competed as well,” celebrated Anderson.

“Todo ano eu organizo a Copa Suíça de Jiu-Jitsu aqui em Genebra, e este ano a quinta edição do torneio teve 220 atletas participantes, vindos da França, Inglaterra, Espanha, Marrocos e, claro, Suíça e Brasil”, conta Anderson, que foi campeão peso-pena no último Mundial Sem Kimono, no master.

Por equipes, a  BTT Geneve ficou em primeiro lugar, com Frota Team de Zurique em segundo, e a Kimura Nova União da Suíça em terceiro.

“Os destaques do evento foram o pernambucano Claudemir Tiko e Pedro Walter, ambos da faixa-marrom”, disse o faixa-preta de Zé Marcello, estabelecido na Suíça há quase seis anos.

Our GMA in Switzerland Anderson Pereira (BTT Geneve) made folks sweat this last 27th and 28th.

“Every year I organize the Switzerland Jiu-Jitsu Cup, and this year marked the fifth installment of the tournament with 220 participants, from France, England, Spain, Morocco and, of course, Switzerland and Brazil,” says Anderson, who won the featherweight division of the last No-Gi World Championship, in the master category.

In the team dispute, BTT Geneve took first, with Frota Team of Zurich in second, and Kimura/Nova União of Switzerland in third.

“The event’s standouts were Pernambuco natives Claudemir Tiko and Pedro Walter, both brown belts,” said the Zé Marcello black belt who has been established in Switzerland the last six years.
