Coming off a technical knockout win at Bitetti Combat 8, Argentina’s Luciano Izzy is one of the latest additions to the card for Amaury Bitetti’s tenth event. The Osiris Maia black belt steps in for RFT’s Jorge Blade against the always dangerous Mario Reis.

Scheduled for October 15 at Rio de Janeiro’s Botafogo gymnasium, again the show will gather a number of Brazil’s top domestic fighters in the cage, with the added excitement of two lightweight Gps,where Edilberto Crocotá, Ivan Batman, André Chatuba, Robert Corvo and others will do battle on the same night. The winners of the two GPs will go on to fight each other for the promotion’s definitive belt in December.

“We’ll announce the superfight soon; it’ll be a surprise,” said Amaury Bitetti.

Vindo de vitória por nocaute técnico no Bitetti Combat 8, o argentino Luciano Izzy é uma das novidades no card da 10ª edição do evento de Amaury Bitetti. O faixa-preta de Osiris Maia substitui Jorge Blade, da RFT, contra o perigoso Mario Reis nas lutas casadas.

Programado para o próximo dia 15 de outubro, no Ginásio do Botafogo, no Rio de Janeiro, o show mais uma vez coloca alguns dos melhores lutadores brasileiros no cercado. A promessa de grandes emoções vem com o dois GPs até 77 kg, em que Edilberto Crocotá, Ivan Batman, André Chatuba, Roberto Corvo, entre outros, brigam duas vezes na mesma noite para ser campeão. O vencedor de cada GP se enfrenta em dezembro, pelo cinturão definitivo.

Glover Teixeira segue imbatível no peso meio-pesado, agora com a nona vitória seguida, no Bitetti Combat 8, no último sábado, contra Daniel Tabera. E os bons resultados trazem uma dificuldade aos promotores de evento: conseguir adversários para Glover.

“Ia enfrentar um lutador da Holanda, ele topou e depois furou em cima da hora. No Canadá, meu adversário disse que não colocaria o cinturão em jogo contra mim, alegou que eu não tenho cartel para isso, apesar de várias vitórias. Mas vai aparecer alguém para eu lutar”, lamenta.

Após o ano de bons resultados no MMA, o lutador está de olho em outra paixão, o Jiu-Jitsu. Glover se diz apaixonado pelo ADCC, evento em que disputou a última edição depois de vencer a seletiva brasileira sem tomar um ponto sequer.

Além disso, no vídeo abaixo, o faixa-preta comenta a dificuldade de lutar nos EUA, por não conseguir o visto.

“Olha, se for uma coisa descente como o Bitetti oferece, luto no Brasil. Mas meu sonho é o UFC, quero lutar onde possa ser o número 1 do mundo.”

Glover Teixeira remains a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division, now on his ninth win in a row following his fight against Daniel Tabera at last Saturday’s Bitetti Combat 8 show. And with the solid results comes a peculiar difficulty for the promoters: finding Glover opponents.

“I was going to fight a Dutch fighter. He agreed to the fight and then backed out at the last minute. In Canada, my opponent said he wouldn’t put his title on the line against me, saying my record isn’t good enough, despite all my wins. But someone for me to fight will appear,” he laments.

Having had a year of solid results in MMA, now the fighter is looking to his other passion, Jiu-Jitsu. Glover says he loves the ADCC, the last event of which he qualified for at the Brazilian tryouts without a single point scored against him.

Furthermore, in the video (in Portuguese) below, the black belt comments on the difficulty he is having in getting his US visa.

“Look, if it’s decent like what Bitetti offers, I’ll fight in Brazil. But my dream is to fight in the UFC, I want to fight where I can be number one in the world.”

Com cartel de 15 vitórias, apenas uma derrota e um empate, Jordan Smith surpreendeu os desavisados com uma excelente atuação no Bitetti Combat 8, no último sábado. Seu adversário, Mario Soldado, valorizou o triunfo do americano na melhor luta da noite.

Durante o combate, ambos chegavam perto da definição. Jordan conseguia knockdowns, enquanto Mario quase finalizou com um justo triângulo e amassou a lataria do oponente. No último assalto, Jordan foi com tudo para cima e conseguiu finalizar, com um mata-leão das costas.

Professor de ciências, Jordan mostra a cada combate que é uma pedreira nos ringues e cages. Empresariado pelo brasileiro Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães, agora a fera quer o UFC.

“Treinei com o brasileiro Gustavo Rodriguez em Utah por três anos e treino na Black House. Queria visitar o Brasil há bastante tempo e lutar aqui é um sonho realizado. Foi uma grande oportunidade lutar aqui”, diz a fera ao GRACIEMAG.com.

Sobre a luta, Jordan ficou satisfeito por saber que o público gostou e considerou o melhor combate da noite.

“Muito obrigado!”, arriscou em português. “Estou satisfeito por ter feito uma grande luta e ter dado um grande show para o público brasileiro.”

Sobre o futuro, o lutador agora quer uma chance na organização comandada por Dana White.

“Definitivamente estou de olho no UFC. Espero ganhar mais algumas lutas e estarei pronto para isso”, encerra.

With fifteen wins, just one loss and one draw, Jordan Smith took unwary spectators by surprise with his stellar showing at Bitetti Combat 8 last Saturday. His opponent, Mario Soldado, added extra value to the American’s triumph, as it was the fight of the night.

During the bout, both came close to finishing. Jordan managed some takedowns, while Mario nearly got the tapout with a snug triangle. IN the final round Jordan launched an all-out attack looking for a conclusive ending, which came in the form of a rear-naked choke.

A science teacher by day, Jordan has been consistently climbing the ranks in the rings and cages, and now the Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães-managed fighter wants a shot at the UFC.

“I’ve trained with Gustavo Rodrigues from Brazil in Utah for three years and now I’m at Black House. I’ve been wanting to visit Brazil for some time and fighting here is a dream come true. Fighting here was a great opportunity,” the fighter told GRACIEMAG.com.

On his fight, Jordan was glad to know the crowd liked it and considered it the best fight of the night.

“Muito obrigado!” he said in Portuguese. “I’m glad to have had a great fight and put on a show for the Brazilian public.”

On his future, the fighter now wants a chance in the big leagues, at Dana White’s promotion.

“I definetely have my eyes on the UFC. I hope to win a few more fights and then I’ll be ready for it,” he says in finishing.

With a quick submission over Guido Caneti at this Saturday’s Bitetti Combat 8 event in São Paulo, Cristiano Marcello now takes off for Jordan, where he will fight at Desert Fighting Championship on the 8th.

For his last fight, at Bitetti Combat, the black belt was expecting to have a rematch with Aleandro “Mandarina” Solano. After agreeing to the bout, though, the Costa Rican fighter ended up pulling out.

“The guy is a wimp chicken who doesn’t follow through with his commitments. He said he’d come, so he should have been here. Or he should have said he didn’t want to first,” he spat.

Com a rápida finalização contra Guido Caneti no Bitetti Combat 8, neste sábado, Cristiano Marcello parte ainda com mais gás para o Desert Fighting Championship, que acontece no próximo dia 8, na Jordânia.

No BC, o faixa-preta teria a aguardada revanche contra Alejandro “Mndarina” Solano.; No entanto, depois de confirmar a participação no desafio, o lutador da Costa Rica acabou desistindo:

“O cara é galo frouxo e não assumiu o compromisso. Se falou, tinha que ter vindo. Falasse que não queria antes”, dispara.

Enquanto feras como Glover Teixeira, Paulo Filho, Thiago Jambo e Cristiano Marcello venceram as suas lutas, o americano Jordan Smith surpreendeu com a melhor luta da noite, uma batalha com Mario Soldado.

Bitetti Combat 8 served up some major fistic excitement this Saturday. Bringing the goods for the São Paulo crowd were the likes of Glover Teixeira, Paulo Filho, Thiago Jambo, and Cristiano Marcello, who all won their fights, and the international barnburner between the USA’s Jordan Smith and Brazil’s Mario Soldado was one for the ages, making the crowd in São Jorge Park’s night.

O encontro com o ex-jogador de futebol e ídolo do Timão Vampeta na saída do hotel Tryp, em São Paulo, era apenas uma prévia de que o Bitetti Combat 8 faria bonito na festa em comemoração aos 100 anos do Corinthians, neste sábado, no Parque São Jorge. Nos bastidores, feras como o campeão do Strikeforce Rafael Feijão e Pedro Rizzo apenas abrilhantavam ainda mais a edição, que contou com lutas de primeira e atletas de reconhecimento mundial.

Na principal luta da noite, Glover Teixeira abusou das quedas e trabalhou bem ao chão para dominar o duro Daniel Tabera, da Espanha. A vitória foi por decisão unânime. Mas, pela primeira vez nos últimos nove combates, Glover precisou lutar os três rounds para sair vencedor do octagon. Já Paulo Filho, outro astro do card, voltou a vencer. O faixa-preta de Carlson Gracie conseguiu derrubar o japonês Yuki Sasaki em várias oportunidades, trabalhou bem no chão, mas esbarrou na boa defesa do adversário, que resistiu nos três rounds, tendo evitado a finalização ou o nocaute.

Indiscutivelmente, a melhor luta da noite foi entre o americano Jordan Smith e Mario Soldado. Com muita disposição, ambos se acertavam na trocação. Smith conseguia knockdowns a seu favor e Soldado não deixava barato. No fim da segunda parcial, quase definiu com um triângulo, numa luta bem sangrenta. Osso duro de roer, o lutador americano voltou com tudo no assalto final. Conectou vários socos, pegou as costas e finalizou com um mata-leão para a loucura do público, que aplaudiu bastante, e do seu empresário, Jorge Guimarães “Joinha”, que abriu um sorriso de uma orelha à outra!

Thiago Jambo também teve trabalho contra o japonês Eiji Ishikaua. Chegou a ficar por baixo em alguns momentos, mas aplicou boas quedas e pegou as costas, o que valeu a decisão unânime dos jurados a seu favor. Numa das lutas de mais rivalidade na noite, Viscardi Andrade precisou de apenas 34s para nocautear Flavio Álvaro. Depois de um direto certeiro, aplicou mais alguns socos com o oponente ao chão antes de o juiz separar. Também rapidinho, Cristiano Marcello finalizou o argentino Guido Caneti. O líder da CM System pegou as costas e finalizou com um mata-leão.

Outro estrangeiro que venceu na noite, Luciano Izzy vinha vencendo Enéas Gonçalves, com quedas. Ainda no primeiro assalto, viu o oponente desistir depois de quebrar a costela. Em pé, Matheus Serafin aplicou boas sequências de socos em Thomas Saldiva, mas definiu no chão. No segundo round, quedou, montou e socou até o nocaute técnico. Já Toninho Fúria vinha aplicando boas quedas em Eduardo Santos. Mas o oponente acabou contundindo o ombro e teve de desistir na primeira luta da noite.

The meeting with former Corinthians soccer team idol Vampeta while exiting Hotel Tryp, in São Paulo, just foreshadowed how Bitetti Combat 8 would put on a great show for the hundred-year celebrations of the Corinthians this Saturday at São Jorge Park. Behind the scenes, fighters like Strikeforce champion Rafael “Feijão” and Pedro Rizzo were should a couple there to see the show boasting top-notch fights and world renowned fighters.

In the evening’s main event, Glover Teixeira resorted to takedowns and solid ground work to dominate Spain’s Daniel Tabera, winning via unanimous decision. But for the first time in his last nine fights, Glover was made to go all three rounds to be proclaimed the victor. Now Paulo Filho, another star on the card, rediscovered his winning ways. The Carlson Gracie black belt managed to take Japan’s Yuki Sasaki to the ground on a number of occasions, controlled the action on the ground but came up against his opponent’s solid defenses, and this fight too went the distance before Paulão would have his hand raised.

Without a doubt, the fight of the night was the USA’s Jordan Smith against Mario Soldado. Each landed strikes to the other in lively standup exchanges. Smith managed knockdowns in his favor but Soldado replied with damaging strikes of his own. At the end of the second round, Soldado nearly finished with a triangle, in a bloody fight. A hard nut to crack, the American charged in full steam in the final round. He landed numerous strikes, made it to back mount, and finished with a rear-naked choke, to the applauding crowd’s delight, his manager Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães grinning from ear to ear.

Thiago Jambo had his work out for him against Eiji Ishikaua too. He ended up on bottom for a few moments, but successfully landed takedowns and took back mount, earning him the nod from the judges. In a fight supercharged with rivalry, Viscardi Andrade needed just 34 seconds to knock out Flavio Álvaro. After a straight punch right on the button, he followed up with strikes to his downed opponent before the referee separated him. Another quickie was Cristiano Marcello’s rear-naked choke-finish of Argentina’s Guido Caneti.

Another foreigner to score big on the night, Luciano Izzy was outpointing Enéas Gonçalves on takedowns. Still in the first round, he saw his opponent call it quits after breaking a rib. Standing, Matheus Serafin landed a series of strikes to Thomas Saldiva standing, but finished on the ground. In the second round, he got the takedown, mounted, and pounded away for the technical knockout. Now Toninho Fúria had been landing good takedowns on Eduardo Santos, but his opponent ended up injuring his shoulder and had to pull out of the first fight on the card.
