Carlos Alberto “Betão” made his Bellator debut on the right foot this Saturday in the United States. The RFT team representative faced Jerod Spoon at the 42nd installment of the show, coming out on the right end of the judges’ decision, in Oklahoma’s Lucky Star Casino.

The Brazilian imposed his game from the outset, connecting with ground and point and landing flying knees in two of the three periods, earning him the unanimous decision.

In the light heavyweight GP Chritian M’Pumbu displayed a solid boxing game and knocked Tim Carpenter out just after the two-minute mark. Now the star from the Democratic Republic of Congo heads into the tournament final against the USA’s Richard Hale, who took a split decision win over D.J. Linderman in the other GP semifinal.

Carlos Alberto Betão estreou bem no Bellator, evento que aconteceu neste sábado, nos Estados Unidos. A fera da RFT encarou Jerod Spoon, na 42ª edição do show, e fez bonito no Lucky Star Casino, em Oklahoma.

O casca-grossa impôs seu jogo desde o início com boas sequências de golpes, quando usou bem o ground and pound e chegou a aplicar joelhadas voadoras durantes dua das três parciais. No final, as papeletas apontaram decisão unânime a favor de Betão.

No GP meio-pesado, destaque para Christian M’Pumbu, que mostrou um boxe afiadíssimo e nocauteou Tim Carpenter com pouco mais de dois minutos de luta. Agora a estrela da Republica Democrática do Congo enfrentará, na final do torneio, o americano Richard Hale, que venceu D.J. Linderman por decisão dividida na outra semifinal do GP.

Hardly had the ink on his Bellator contract dried and Brazil’s Carlos Alberto Betão will already see action. The fighter from RFT team is set to make his promotional debut this Saturday at Bellator 42 against Jerod Spoon. Betão is another of a number of recent additions to the event broadcast on MTV2, currently the largest event not owned by Zuffa (UFC and Strikeforce).

“I’m really happy to be making my Bellator debut. My dream was always to fight abroad and it’s great to be able to do it at a major event like Bellator. I trained really well for this fight and have been at it since January, so I’m sure I’ll do great,” Betão told GRACIEMAG.com.

“My opponent, Jerod Spoon, is a great athlete, has a really consistent game, and will certainly be a great fight – and the public is the one to gain from that. Although I do respect him a great deal, when it comes down to us being alone in the cage it’ll be his dreams or my dreams to be fulfilled, and I’m positive I’m the one who will be victorious,” added the Marcio Cromado student.

Bellator has built a reputation for showcasing electrifying fights, and Betão is confident he won’t disappoint.

“This fight is really important to me because besides it being my international debut it’s the first time my team (RFT) has a representative fighting in the United States. So nothing but winning has entered my thoughts. You can expect a Betão bringing a lot of aggression; I’m going in there to get the knockout or submission,” he said in closing.

Mal foi contratado pelo Bellator e o brasileiro Carlos Alberto Betão já entra em ação. A fera da RFT luta neste sábado, no Bellator 42, contra Jerod Spoon. Betão é mais uma das feras convocadas pela organização transmitida pela MTV, atualmente a maior não controlada pela Zuffa (UFC e Strikeforce).

“Estou muito feliz por estreiar no Bellator. Meu sonho sempre foi lutar fora do Brasil e realizá-lo em um grande evento como o Bellator é muito bom. Me preparei muito para esta luta, venho treinando forte desde janeiro, então tenho certeza que me sairei muito bem”, comenta Betão ao GRACIEMAG.com.

“Meu adversário, o Jerod Spoon, é um grande atleta, tem um jogo bem consistente e com certeza será um desafio muito interessante e quem ganha com isso é o público. Apesar de respeitá-lo muito, na hora que estivermos só nós dois dentro da gaiola é o sonho dele ou o meu que vai se realizar e tenho certeza que sairei vitorioso”, completa o pupilo de Marcio Cromado.

O Bellator faz fama por trazer combates eletrizantes e Betão garante não decepcionar.

“Esta luta é muito importante para mim, porque além da minha estréia internacional é a primeira vez que a minha equipe (RFT) tem um atleta lutando nos Estados Unidos. Então não tenho outro pensamento a não ser vencê-lo. Podem esperar um “Betão” com muita vontade e agressividade, vou com tudo para nocautear ou finalizar”, encerra.
