Former UFC fighter Assuerio Silva was shot last Tuesday night in Curitiba, Brazil, but is no longer in serious condition, according to Cajuru Hospital officials. No bullets that struck Silva hit a major organ or blood vessel.

The former King of Pancrase underwent surgery on Wednesday morning to correct a bone fracture in his wrist caused by the projectiles, according to a report by the Band News FM radio station. The fighter is no longer in the emergency room and was moved to the infirmary.

The main suspect in the shooting is Silva’s former business partner, Robson Freitas. Before receiving medical attention and being taken to hospital, Silva identified his attacker by name to local authorities.

According to the local police, Freitas was detained on Wednesday and taken to the Ciac Sul detention center. Authorities entered the suspect’s residence and confiscated .22 and .38 caliber revolvers. The case is being investigated by the state’s 12th District Police, according to a report in the Gazeta do Povo newspaper.

O ex-lutador do UFC Assuério Silva, que sofreu um atentado a balas na noite de terça-feira em Curitiba, não corre mais risco de vida, informou o último boletim do hospital Cajuru, onde o atleta está internado.

Nenhum dos cinco tiros atingiu Assuério com gravidade. Na manhã desta quarta, o ex-campeão do Pancrase passou por uma cirurgia no pulso, para corrigir uma fratura óssea causada por um dos projéteis. Os outros quatro disparos atingiram a cabeça, o quadril, joelho e coxa de Assuério, conforme noticiou a Band News FM.

O principal suspeito do ataque é um ex-sócio de Assuério. Antes de ser socorrido e internado em estado grave, Assuério pronunciou o nome do acusado. O lutador já deixou o CTI e está na enfermaria do hospital.

Segundo a Polícia Militar paranaense, o suspeito Róbson Freitas já foi detido na tarde desta quarta. Em sua casa, foram apreendidas munições de revólveres calibres 22 e 38. Róbson foi preso e levado para o Centro Integrado de Atendimento ao Cidadão (Ciac Sul). O caso continua sendo apurado pelo 12° Distrito Policial do estado. Ex-atleta do UFC e do Pride, Assuério Silva, de 38 anos,  foi baleado na noite dessa terça-feira, dia 29 de janeiro, quando saía de sua academia, em Curitiba. O faixa-preta levou cinco tiros. As informações são do Paraná Online.

Após os disparos, populares do bairro Santa Felicidade o socorreram. Pelo menos sete carros da Polícia Militar e duas ambulâncias prestaram atendimento ao lutador no local. Ainda consciente, Assuério revelou que o autor dos disparos teria sido seu ex-sócio, Robson Freitas. Ele continua internado em estado grave no hospital local.

Assuério não luta desde 2009, quando perdeu para Gerônimo Mondragon no Jungle Fight 15. Ex-atleta do pelotão de elite da Chute Boxe, o faixa-preta de Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, pisou no octagon do UFC duas vezes, em 2006, e já enfrentou grandes nomes do MMA mundial, como Alessio Sakara, Cheick Kongo, Tim Sylvia e Brandon Vera.

No Pride, Assuério fez luta acirrada contra Alexander Emelianenko, o peso pesado irmão de Fedor, em 2003.

On the evening of this Tuesday, Jan. 29, Assuério Silva, a 38-year-old fighter who has been through the UFC and Pride FC promotions, was shot as he left his gym in the Brazilian city of Curitiba. The black belt took five bullets, as reported by the Paraná Online website.

After the shots were fired, residents of the Santa Felicidade neighborhood rushed to the scene to help. At least seven police cars and two ambulances attended to the fighter. Still conscious, Assuério revealed that the shooter was his former business partners Robson Freitas. Silva remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Assuério had not fought since 2009, when he lost to Gerônimo Mondragon at Jungle Fight 15. A former star from Chute Boxe academy’s heyday, the black belt from the Northeastern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte fought twice in the UFC octagon, in 2006, and has faced such big names as Alessio Sakara, Cheick Kongo, Tim Sylvia and Brandon Vera.

At Pride FC, Assuério had a hard-fought encounter with Alexander Emelianenko, the heavyweight brother of superstar Fedor Emelianenko, in 2003.

Mr. Cage 4 had a solid card, with Manaus’s big stars in a title bout and superfights, headlined by two fighters with experience in major international events, but the night was less than perfect.

Assuério Silva and Wagner Zuluzinho, two super heavyweights scheduled to face off in the evening’s main event, ended up not locking horns. The reason? A simple shin guard worn by the son of King Zulu.

To the frustration of all in the Diamond Convention Center, Assuério Silva pulled out of the bout while already in the Mr. Cage hexagon. The former Chute Boxe fighter alleged that Zuluzinho was using a shin guard, and that that would favor his opponent.

Zuluzinho rebutted showing that he was only using an ankle brace, to protect the thrombosis on his legs, which was confirmed by the promoters. Zuluzinho also vowed not to kick Assuério at any moment, but it did no good.

O Mr. Cage 4 possuía um bom card, com grandes feras de Manaus em disputas de cinturão e lutas casadas, capitaneados por dois lutadores com passagens por ringues internacionais, mas a noite foi quase perfeita.

Assuério Silva e Wagner Zuluzinho, os pesos pesadíssimos escalados para a superluta da noite, acabaram não se enfrentando. O motivo? Uma singela caneleira, usada pelo filho de Rei Zulu.

Para frustração de todos no Diamond Convention Center, o potiguar Assuério Silva desistiu do combate já dentro do hexágono do Mr. Cage. O ex-chuteboxer alegou que Zuluzinho estava usando uma caneleira, e que isso poderia favorecer o oponente.
 
Zuluzinho defendeu-se mostrando que usava apenas um tensor e uma tornozeleira, para proteger a trombose que tem nas pernas, fato que foi confirmado pelos organizadores. Zuluzinho ainda garantiu que em nenhum momento usaria chutes contra Assuério, mas nada adiantou.

This Wednesday morning in Manaus, Brazil, weigh-ins for MMA event Mr. Cage was held and the event’s promoter Samir Nadaf oriented everyone as to the rules at a technical meeting. With backing from Lutas do Norte website and Brazilian cable television channel Combate, the main event features two ultra-heavy heavyweights: former Pancrase, Pride and UFC fighter Assuério Silva and former Pride fighter Wagner Zuluzinho.

With the better career record, however irregular in recent years, Assuério is coming off a loss to Gerônimo dos Santos at Jungle Fight 15 in October of last year. The black belt has 15 wins and 8 losses on his record, and has faced such stalwart opposition as Alexander Emelianenko, Cheick Kongo, Brandon Vera and Tim Sylvia.

Now Zuluzinho, the son of mythological fighter Casimiro “King Zulu” Martins, once faced Fedor Emelianenko, but didn’t get anywhere in the fight. “Prince Zuluzinho” now has over 50 MMA fights under his belt, with a win over Ikuhisa Minowa and losses to Eric “Butterbean” Esch and Rodrigo Minotauro.

The event will be held at the Diamond Convention Center in the capital of Amazonas state. According to the promoters, tickets, costing 100 reais, are already sold out. And for GRACIEMAG.com readers, who wins it?

Aconteceu na manhã dessa quarta-feira em Manaus a pesagem do evento de MMA Mr. Cage. O empresário da luta, Samir Nadaf, orientou todos durante um congresso técnico em que foram esclarecidas todas as regras. O evento, com apoio do site Lutas do Norte, do Programa Expressão e do canal Combate, tem como luta principal o embate entre os pesos pesadíssimos Assuério Silva (ex-Pancrase, Pride e UFC) e Wagner Zuluzinho (ex-Pride).

Dono de um cartel mais sólido, ainda que irregular nos últimos anos, Assuério vem de derrota para Gerônimo dos Santos, no Jungle Fight 15, em outubro de 2009. O faixa-preta potiguar tem 15 vitórias e 8 derrotas no cartel, e adversários como Alexander Emelianenko, Cheick Kongo, Brandon Vera e Tim Sylvia.

Já o maranhense Zuluzinho, filho do mitológico Casimiro “Rei Zulu” Martins, já enfrentou Fedor Emelianenko, mas não deu muito para ele. O “Príncipe Zuluzinho” tem hoje mais de 50 lutas de MMA, com vitória sobre Ikuhisa Minowa e derrotas para Eric Butterbean e Rodrigo Minotauro.

O evento acontece nesta noite no Diamond Convention Center (Avenida do Turismo), na capital do Amazonas. Os ingressos, que custam 100 reais,  já estão se esgotando segundo os organizadores. E para o leitor do GRACIEMAG.com, quem vence?

Representatives of luta livre, sambo and Jiu-Jitsu from all around Switzerland, as well as some from France and Germany, participated in the event. There were more than 80 athletes in all, and the show drew a sizeable crowd, too.

The president of Rio de Janeiro’s Luta Livre Submission Federation Daniel D’Dane and king of Pancrase Assuério Silva were present at the event and held a seminar together.

Such was the success of the event that the next stage has already been penned in for October.

Foi realizado no dia 22 de maio, no Budo Clube Grottes, em Genebra, na Suíça, o primeiro torneio de luta livre submission no comando do representante da luta livre em Genebra, o faixa-preta Junior Barata.

O evento teve a participação de atletas da luta livre, sambo e Jiu-Jitsu de toda a Suíça, além de atletas vindos da França e Alemanha. Foram mais de 80 atletas e o público também compareceu.

Marcaram presença o presidente da Federação de Luta Livre Submission do Rio de Janeiro Daniel D’Dane e o rei do Pancrase Assuério Silva, que realizaram juntos um seminário.

E a empolgação é tanta que a próxima etapa deve ser em outubro.
