One Fighting Championship announced Thursday that Hong Kong native Eddie “The Magician” Ng will square off against Frenchman Arnaud “The Game” Lepont at One FC 8: Kings & Champions at Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 5.

The event will broadcast on Star Sports across Asia, and will be available for live streaming online Pay-Per-View at www.onefc.livesport.tv.

“Kings & Champions will be the biggest in One FC history and features the top names in Asian MMA,” said One FC CEO Victor Cui. “Eddie Ng and Arnaud Lepont will be a slug fest that fans don’t want to miss. Both fighters are at the top of their game and have a lot to prove and they are well-known brawlers who have never backed down from a fight. Get ready for a knockout of the night.”

Ng (5-1) has never been out of the first round of a fight, with the only loss of his career coming at the hands of a slam by Joakim Engberg in 2009. Lepont (9-2) is a veteran of the One FC promotion and is coming off a loss to Shinya Aoki by submission at One FC 6.

Aoki will headline the April 5 card in an attempt at the promotion’s lightweight title against champion Kotetsu “No Face” Boku.

In MMA’s top tier, there isn’t a fighter on par with them. Shinya Aoki and Rodrigo Minotauro, both Jiu-Jitsu black belts, are now tied in the number of submissions they have to their names in their professional careers—at 20 apiece.

Aoki’s 20th submission arose last Saturday in the main event of the One FC show in Singapore. The prized Yuki Nakai student at Paraestra academy needed just 1:25 minutes to put away Arnaud Lepont with a triangle choke. Now he should be getting a crack at the promotion’s lightweight title.

And the champion of the submission savant’s division was determined on the same night: South Korean fighter Kotetsu Boku used clinical striking to TKO Brazil’s Zorobabel Moreira in the third round and snap up the belt.

Now the bantamweight title went to his countryman Soo Chul Kim, who laid out Brazilian black belt Leandro Issa with a barrage of punches in the second round.

In the first round of the bantamweight GP, the USA’s Jens Pulver overcame China’s Zhao Ya Feia and Japan’s Masakatsu Ueda outdid Korea’s Min Jung Song. Both fights ended in unanimous decisions. Now Filipino champion Kevin Belington took out Russia’s Yusup Saadulaev via technical knockout to remain alive in the GP.

No MMA de alto nível, nenhum lutador é páreo para eles. Shinya Aoki e Rodrigo Minotauro, ambos faixas-pretas de Jiu-Jitsu, estão agora empatados no número de finalizações obtidas no MMA profissional – 20 para cada um.

A 20ª finalização de Aoki foi aplicada no último sábado, no duelo principal do One FC, em Cingapura. O craque japonês da academia Paraestra, de Yuki Nakai, só precisou de 1min25s para despachar Arnaud Lepont com um triângulo. Ele agora deve ganhar uma chance de disputar o cinturão dos leves do evento.

O campeão da categoria, aliás, foi conhecido na mesma noite: o sul-coreano Kotetsu Boku foi preciso nos golpes para vencer o brasileiro Zorobabel Moreira, por nocaute técnico no terceiro round, e faturou o cinto.

Já o título do peso-galo ficou com seu compatriota Soo Chul Kim, que levou o faixa-preta brasileiro Leandro Issa à lona com uma série de socos, no segundo assalto.

Na primeira rodada do GP dos galos, o americano Jens Pulver venceu o chinês Zhao Ya Fei e o japonês Masakatsu Ueda superou o coreano Min Jung Song, ambos por decisão unânime dos jurados. O faixa-preta Gregor Gracie vinha embalado com quatro vitórias seguidas no MMA. Porém no último sábado, dia 23 de junho, o lutador de Jiu-Jitsu treinado pelo primo Renzo foi superado pelo local Adam Kayoom, por decisão unânime dos jurados, na quarta edição do ONE FC, em Kuala Lumpur, na Malásia. O GRACIEMAG.com bateu um papo rápido com a fera, que explicou o mau resultado.

Como foi a guerra no One FC?

Foi uma guerra, mas não fiquei feliz com o meu rendimento. Treinei bastante, mas sei que errei em algumas partes, fiquei bem triste com o resultado, mas isso só vai me motivar para treinar mais e voltar melhor na próxima luta. Acho que basicamente me faltou experiência, mas faz parte, foi melhor isso ter acontecido agora. Ainda estou aprendendo muito com esse esporte, e ainda vou lutar muito na vida.

Houve algum momento crucial na luta que decidiu o resultado?

O momento que mudou a luta foi no primeiro round, ao meu ver. Eu estava nas costas dele batendo, e o juiz quase parou a luta umas três vezes. Eu acreditei que podia acabar com o cara ali, então não guardei energia, gastei tudo ali para tentar acabar a luta. Como não consegui e a luta não acabou, a partir dali eu não fui mais o mesmo, cansei e não consegui me recuperar.

Já conversou com os produtores sobre os próximos eventos? Algum convite para lutar de novo?

A produção do evento foi ótima, o One FC está crescendo muito e os eventos estão cada vez melhores. No dia seguinte da luta eu sentei com o pessoal do evento e conversei com eles, pedi para lutar no próximo evento, que vai acontecer no final de agosto em Manila, nas Filipinas. Ainda não tenho adversário, mas já voltei aos treinos e espero poder fazer uma boa luta.

Gregor Gracie was riding a four-fight winning streak in MMA. But that roll came to an end last Saturday, June 23, when the Jiu-Jitsu fighter trained by his cousin Renzo was overcome by hometown boy Adam Kayoom via unanimous decision at the fourth installment of One FC, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. GRACIEMAG.com had a quick chat with the black belt, who explained the setback.

HOW DID YOUR BATTLE AT ONE FC GO?

It was a war but I’m not happy with my performance. I trained a lot but know I messed up on some things. I was really bummed out by the result, but it just motivates me to train even more and be even better in my next fight. I feel I basically lacked experience, but that comes with the territory; it’s best that it happened now. I’m still learning a lot in this sport, and I still have a lot of fights ahead of me.

WAS THERE SOME CRUCIAL MOMENT IN THE FIGHT THAT DETERMINED THE OUTCOME?

The way I see it, the turnaround came in the first round. I was on his back hitting him, and the ref stopped the fight three times. I feel I could have finished him there so I didn’t save any energy; I used it all up trying to end the fight. Seeing as I didn’t and the fight didn’t end, I wasn’t the same after that; I wore out and couldn’t recover.

HAVE YOU SPOKEN WITH THE PROMOTERS ABOUT UPCOMING EVENTS? WILL YOU BE GETTING ANOTHER FIGHT?

The production was awesome. One FC is growing by leaps and bounds and just keeps getting better and better. The day after the fight, I sat down with the promoters to talk. I asked them to fight in the next event, which will be in August in Manila, in the Philippines. I don’t have an opponent yet, but I’m already back at training and hope to have a good fight.

The One FC promotion held its fourth event this Saturday, June 23, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and there was no lack of excitement or Jiu-Jitsu. The black belt Renato Babalu was quick on the trigger and needed just 31 seconds to take out Tatsuya Mizuno via armbar in the evening’s main event.

A black belt from the family with the most tradition in the martial arts world, Gregor Gracie couldn’t get his ground game working for him and ended up dropping a unanimous decision to local fighter Adam Shahir Kayoom.

Of the other Brazilians in the event, Zorobabel Moreira, a Roberto Gordo black belt, knocked out former UFC star Roger Huerta in the second round, while Leandro Brodinho took a unanimous decision over Masakazu Imanari. Now Marcos Escobar tapped out Rodrigo Praxedes via choke in the third round. Check out the complete results:
