The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition will offer kids, juveniles, Adult (Male and Female), Masters and Senior Divisions. GD Jiu-Jitsu Events will be offering free tournament t-shirts to all competitors!

Each competitor must fill out the registration form online. The pre-registration fee is $70 for adults and juveniles (16-17 yrs) and $60 for kids division until Monday, June 17. After this date, the proces change to $80 for adults and juveniles and $70 for kids.

All registrations must be received by Monday, June 24, at 11:59 pm.

The brackets will be released on Friday, June 28, and will be available online at gdjjevents.com.

Adults Division– The tournament is single elimination. Medals will be awarded to the 1st place (1), 2nd place (1) and 3rd place (2) competitors of each division.

Kids Division– Every competitor will receive a medal. This is a single elimination tournament, but if the child loses in the semifinal, they will compete again. The top four are guaranteed on the podium.

The top five schools at the 2013 Arizona BJJ State Championship will receive team trophies.

O fim de semana foi de Jiu-Jitsu de altíssimo nível em Phoenix, no estado do Arizona. Entre os vencedores do Arizona Open, destaque para Leandro Lo na faixa-preta e para Ben Henderson na marrom.

O campeão dos leves do UFC, com luta marcada contra Gilbert Melendez no dia 20 de abril, comentou por que gosta de competir de kimono.

“É ótimo me testar aqui, onde não há milhões de pessoas assistindo. O Jiu-Jitsu de pano ajuda a manter minha movimentação e o meu espírito competitivo”, disse Bendo ao repórter Ivan Trindade, do GracieMag.com, após vencer o peso médio e o absoluto.

O faixa-preta Leandro Lo também falou sobre o triunfo no aberto, após vencer Lucas Rocha por 14 a 0 e fazer 4 a 0 contra Augusto Tanquinho, na final.

“Acho que foi uma vitória decidida nos detalhes, insisti muito e consegui raspar e fazer os pontos da vitória”, disse Lo.

Para Tanquinho, só elogios ao rival:

“Este cara é incrível lutando. O que me chama atenção foi a sua persistência para obter as raspagens, mesmo depois de eu ter defendido a manobra duas vezes”, reconheceu o professor da Soul Fighters.

O Arizona Open ocorreu nesse fim de semana, no Arizona. E teve até um campeão do UFC competindo no ginásio Colégio Fênix, a fera Ben Henderson, vencedor na faixa-marrom.

Na faixa-preta, o novo peso médio Leandro Lo faturou o absoluto. Na final, ele se encontrou com um adversário bem conhecido, Augusto Tanquinho (Soul Fighters), com quem lutou recentemente na Copa Pódio. Veja como foi:

Last weekend was one of first-rate Jiu-Jitsu in Arizona, USA, with Gustavo Dantas’s competition paying out 2,500 dollars to the winner of the black belt absolute division.

The grand champion was Roberto “Tussa” Alencar (Gracie Barra), who won the final against Bruno Bastos (Nova União), who took home 500 dollars for his efforts.

The GB New Mexico teacher made it to the final after submitting Carlos Farias, while Bruno defeated Guybson Sá via referee decision.

O último fim de semana foi de bom Jiu-Jitsu, e no Arizona, EUA, a competição de Gustavo Dantas deu 2.500 dólares para o campeão absoluto na faixa-preta.

O grande vencedor foi Roberto “Tussa” Alencar (Gracie Barra), que passou na final por Bruno Bastos (Nova União), que por sua vez beliscou 500 dólares pelo segundo lugar.

With the cancellation of the battle between Kron Gracie and “JT” Torres at the Arizona International Open due to the Gracie getting injured, the Gustavo Dantas-promoted championship has added another category to draw the cream of the sport’s crop in the USA.

The sixth Arizona Open, on the 26th and 27th of February, will pay out $3,000 in prize money to the top-placed competitors in the absolute black belt division: $2,500 to the champion and $500 to the runner-up.

“Normally, the divisions with prize money only happen in the summer, at the Arizona State Championship. But with Kron’s unfortunate injury to his knee, he won’t be able to face JT. So that fans and the fighters themselves will be rewarded, we created this absolute category with prize money in hopes of drawing world-class competitors to Arizona,” Gustavo Dantas informed GRACIEMAG.com.

Numa realização da GD Jiu-Jitsu Events em parceria da Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZSBJJF), acontece nos dias 26 e 27 de fevereiro mais uma edição do Arizona Open, a sexta.
