GMA Gracie Barra Georgia will be hosting Flavio Almeida of Gracie Barra Dana Point for a seminar on Wednesday, August 28. The long-time competitor and recent IBJJF Las Vegas Summer Open black belt adult heavyweight champion will be in the area for the seminar and also the IBJJF Atlanta Open that has already reached full capacity.

The time of the event will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the cost is $50 until Wednesday August 21 and $60 thereafter. The location is 5505 Bells Ferry Road #220 Acworth, GA 30102

T-shirts were given to all competitors, and medals were handed out to all kids and those adults who placed first through third. “We sold açai and other healthy snacks out of our kitchen,” Fabio Costa of GB Georgia says, “It was a professionally organized and run tournament.”

The event started with a seminar on IBJJF rules, led by three GB black belts, Professor Joe Hurst, Professor Uhurary, and Professor Vito La Selva. “The competition went smoothly, and everyone was very excited to compete in a friendly environment with their fellow training partners,” Costa says, “We tried our best to come as close to a GB Compnet event as we could.” After the seminar, and in line with GB Compnet events, Costa began the tournament with a team warm-up.

Competitors were watched closely

Along with the above black belts, Professor Vic Rosati, Professor Guilherme Tavares, and Professor Joshua “Foquinha” came to support the event. At the end of the tournament, certificates were bestowed to those promoted this year and then the black belts gave out some belt promotions to those who had earned it over the course of their training this year.

“The tournament was extremely successful and everyone was very happy,” Costa says, “It was an amazing event.”
