The latest edition of Berkut Jiu-Jitsu (ACBJJ), held July 16 in Russia, was dominated by the Miyao brothers. While Paulo was mopping up the 65kg GP, João Miyao was being equally effective at 60kg, defeating three opponents to take the title. Following submission wins over Mayko Araújo and Laércio Fernandes, João beat Isaac Doederlein 4-0 in the final. You can check out their match in this video.

Fighting in Berkut Jiu-Jitsu’s 65kg Grand Prix, he defeated Osvaldo “Queixinho” Moizinho and Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes to reach the final against Gabriel Marangoni, whom he proceeded to choke from the back. Companheiros de equipe, Gabriel Arges e Otavio Sousa mais uma vez chegaram juntos à uma final de campeonato na faixa-preta. Diferente da disputa pelo ouro no Mundial de 2016, na qual fecharam para a equipe Gracie Barra, os competidores não tiveram escolha, e o confere rolou no Absolute Championship Berkut Jiu-Jitsu, realizado no último sábado.

Para definir o campeão do GP até 85kg, realizado na Califórnia, Arges conseguiu trabalhar bem por cima, e culminar em um leglock, que liquidou a fatura no segundo assalto do duelo.
