The 2015 World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is just around the corner.

Now a five-day event, this years edition is scheduled April 20-25.

Once again, the biggest names of Jiu-Jitsu will gather in Abu Dhabi to fight for medals and the money prizes offered by the event.

Even it’s impossible to know who’s going to be the standout in 2015, it’s pretty easy to know that we are going to witness epic battles and hair-raising thrills, just like in the five past editions.

Rodolfo Vieira arrived in Abu Dhabi in 2013 seeking his third gi open class title

The brackets for the brown belt and black belt divisions at the 2014 WPJJC will be publicly drawn right after the athletes weigh in.

The event’s organizers announced today that no pre-separation of athletes will be made, which means athletes from the same team can be paired up even in their first match.

The action is taken to prevent close-outs in the finals.

The open drawing takes place April 16, at 7:30pm (Abu Dhabi time).

In the black belt open class divisions, Rodolfo Vieira and Marcus Almeida Buchecha in the male competition and Gabi Garcia in the female competition will have the right of place in the bracket as champions of the previous years.

The WPJJC also released the schedule for this year’s edition.

The 2014 WPJJC takes place on April 15 – 19.

O último fim de semana na Cidade do México foi de emoção para os fãs de Jiu-Jitsu. Foi lá que o astro Fernando Tererê retornou aos tatames após longo e tenebroso inverno sem competir. Convidado pelo seu aluno Jonathan Amaral, também conhecido por “Pé de Bolo”, o faixa-preta voltou a testar seu Jiu-Jitsu num campeonato aberto do México, na capital do país.

Curtindo uma temporada de seis meses de aulas de Jiu-Jitsu no México, Tererê aproveitou o embalo e resolveu vestir o kimono diante da torcida. Ele fez três lutas e finalizou todas, e demonstrou que está disposto a voltar a competir em alto nível.

O organizador Pé de Bolo também lutou, e perdeu na semifinal para Dan Schon.

Last weekend was an exciting one for Jiu-Jitsu fans in Mexico City. It was there that embattled gentle-art star Fernando Tererê made his competition return after a long and tenebrous winter without competing. Invited to take part by his student Jonathan Amaral, otherwise known as “Pé de Bolo”, the black belt tested out his Jiu-Jitsu at an open championship in Mexico’s capital city.

Making the most of a six-month stint teaching Jiu-Jitsu in Mexico, Tererê decided to don his gi for the fans, and came up with three submissions in the three matches he was in, showing he’s still got it.

The event’s promoter, Pé de Bolo, also got in on the action but lost in the semifinals to Dan Schon.
