Two UFC athletes, both Brazilian, were set to fight at the 2017 ADCC World Championships next weekend. Now only Augusto Tanquinho remains, as Gilbert “Durinho” Burns has stepped out.
After winning at UFC Pittsburgh with a nice knockout over Jason Saggo, Durinho had to subtract himself from the grappling event due to an injury suffered in the Octagon.
Talking to Graciemag, Durinho said he has a bad ankle due to the kicks fired throughout the three-round bout. He leaves a hole in the 77kg division.
The ADCC has a few famous names lined up to replace him, but Graciemag has learned that, due to how close the event is and to avoid teammates facing off, the most likely outcome is that a Finnish athlete will plug the hole.
