Loyal GRACIEMAG readers remember Bibiano Fernandes from his days raking in gold at Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, when the burly half-pint would dispatch opponents with his swift double, sometimes triple attacks.

New Year’s in Japan, the Carlson Gracie Canada representative from the Brazilian state of Amazonas was quick on the trigger, leaving the Saitama Super Arena with two wins and the promotion’s bantamweight GP belt. First, Bibiano outpointed countryman Rodolfo Marques; then he went up against Antonio Banuelos, and the Brazilian’s “The Flash” super powers kicked in and got him the knockout in time for him not to miss the New Year’s fireworks.
