That’s terrible technique … I thought GracieMag knew what jiu-jitsu was … look at how he is using his armstrength to combat his opponent’s leg strength! Ari is not a jiu-jitsu black belt, and why his Uki is wearing an orange belt?
Its tagged “10th Planet”. Why would you post this? They guy is wearing a gi with a black belt (when he’s not a bjj black belt) and is teaching a junk move. Please, I got to GracieMag to see techniques from people who actually know what they’re doing.
I agree with Richard, don’t see how one’s arm strength can beat others leg strength… And agree with Mike too. No reason to be sorry for a move be considered ok by the rules. Any move that actually works is good. Unsure if it ever works. However it is a democratic space.
This move has been used effectively to set up a twister, although the twister is not allowed in competition JJ. Tony de Souza used it to get the twister on Luiz Azeredo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uwEnV4pnHo), but got stood up before Luiz could tap. If you use your foot as a hook to push the leg trapped by your legs outwards, it hurts a lot more than just pulling using your arms and leg.
This is a show off move. If you could use this move on someone, you could have done anything to that person. As far as ari… The guy is a blue belt. The blue belt text video is on his page and its nothing he should be proud of. He looks like any other guy with a year of good training. So why has he been posting videos online wearing a black belt for four years?
Very nice move! Watch the BJJ movie “Art Suave” there you can see this move in many variations performed by Damian Maia.
there is seriously no other videos of this being done by someone other than ari?

Friends,
the intention behind the post was to demonstrate an odd position, regardless of the background of who is in it.
If you have suggestions for videos to feature on the site, please send them to mdunlop@graciemag.com.
Best regards and thank you!
Why is it “unfortunate” that this is not illegal? I don’t see what’s so “brute” about this move.
Is it any less “brute” to break a guy’s arm with an armbar or tear apart his knee with a kneebar or footlock?
If someone catches you in this and all you have to do is tap and you’ll be fine. I see no problem with it.

why is there a grown man wearing an orange belt in this video?
You guys shouldn’t be posting videos of this fraud, he doesn’t deserve to be on this site.
