Dana White with a funny fan in Rio de Janeiro / Photo: personal archive

There are six months to go till UFC Rio, on August 27, 2011, an event guaranteed to make history for the city, for Brazilians, and for the athletes. And – why not? – the UFC’s organizers.

Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta were in Rio de Janeiro on December 15, but they didn’t get the chance to make the most of what the city has to offer.

During the frenzy of the press conference, a GRACIEMAG reporter approached Dana White to shoot the breeze.

Will you have time to get to see the Jiu-Jitsu academies in the city, Mr. President?

Shoot, thanks for the invitation, but not likely. Whenever I take these trips its the biggest rush and I get too worn out, imagine trying to train. And I’ll be leaving early tomorrow morning.

What about Lorenzo, would he like to get a roll in?

We can ask him…

And up come kids wanting to take photos Dana White, the press asking him to pose with the Brazilian flag, with Anderson Silva, with Vitor Belfort, with Royce Gracie. Dana humored them all with interviews, as usual.

The next day he event dropped by the beach for some quick photos. But the best of what tried that Rio had to offer was really the sense of humor.

At the celebrated presser, as he posed for a photo with UFC fan João Paulo Freitas, Dana heard:

Can I take a photo of the two most handsome bald guys in this place?

Of course (laughs).

Make sure Royce doesn’t hear us!

Causing the promotional president to break out in laughter.

Now what would you say to Dana White if you were to cross paths with him? What fights would you request for UFC Rio? Comment below and put the pressure on him.

My Dream Picks from Bantamweight to Heavyweight: The best Fighters in the UFC

Benavidez vs Torres- cuz Benavidez alays brings it, which means Torres cant hide. However Torres is very technical so it would fun to see how he deals with the pressure.

Jose Aldo vs. Nam Phan- Very even fight! We all know how dangerous Aldo is however don’t ever count out Nam!

BJ Penn vs Nate Diaz- Stop Fronting, this is an ultimate dream match. Both can finish you in many ways. Maybe a catch weight is in order, like 165. P.S. Edgar will never be the true Lightweight Champion. He doesn’t have that special quality that the greats have! Its a travesty he is the Lightweight Champion of the supposed most prestigious MMA show. Gilbert Melendez is more believable as the best lightweight, even though I dont believe he is. Thats why nowdays I prefer StrikeForce cards. Watch out UFC, you have some competition coming up, hehe. Maybe your ego will be your downfall one day, haha. Maybe not your downfall, however you will lose some Market Share, which at one point you tightly controlled, haha.

GSP vs Jake Shields- Don’t count out Shields. He will take you to the ground and Submit you!!! He placed 3rd in the Abu Dhabi 2005 as a freakin Purple Belt. For the third place win, he subbed Leo Santos, who is one of the most TECHNICAL black belts of all time. Damn those Caesar Gracie guys have good Jiu Jitsu. On an interesting note, Leo Santos, in the same tournament, subbed GSP in the first minute of their match with a crazy Flying Armbar. He made GSP look like he didn’t belong in the most prestigious grappling tournament in the world. The question is, can Jake beat the guy, who lost to the guy he already beat? This makes for an interesting match.

GSP vs. NICK DIAZ MOTHERFUCKER!!!- Enough said! The 2 supposed best Welterweights in the world. Who will win? I put my money on DIAZ! Never bet against a DIAZ! To me Diaz= Real Fighter/Martial Artists! GSP=Mainstream Champion. For example GSP is to Diaz like 50 cent is to RZA.

GSP vs Anderson- Would be a great fight to watch if Anderson let out the fury. However these two will most likely dance around the ring like a bunch of pansies, so they can look good for the photo shoot at the after party. I hate how money changes people!

Anderson vs Vitor Part Deux- I believe Vitor could do better next time! He was doing good in the beginning, like how he caught that kick and took him down. He showed that he’s still sharp and explosive. I’m not calling Anderson’s kick a lucky kick, because I believe there is no such thing as a lucky “anything” in MMA. That being said…

Shogun vs Rogerio Nogueira part 2- We all know Lil Nog won that first fight. He knocked him sensless, just watch it over and over. He was beating him stand up and on the ground no if and or buts. Shogun had nothing on Lil Nogs Half Guard. Fucking corrupt Yakuza. Lil Nog deserves another chance. However I hope he trains really hard cuz he wasn’t looking to sharp his last few fights, while Shogun looks about the same.

Nogueira vs Brock- Because I would like to see Nogueria vs. Bob Sapp part 2. This time in the UFC cage, and with a more skilled opponent. Nogueira by ARMBAR! And for all you newbies out there, Nogueira is the best HEavyweight of all time. He had the most technical hands and the most technical Ground game. Just ask Anderson, who the best Heavyweight of All Time is? In his prime, he was never finished. They say nobody has really never beat Minotauro, he just ran out of time before he could finish them :). Also, to all you Fedor nuthuggers, don’t only go by the records! Watch Arona vs Fedor, and you will se his 1st loss in mainstream MMA. Newbs!!!

Well these are my dream matchups. i spent alot of time doing this, so you should all be greatful that someone who actually knows what they’re talking about took the time to explain shit to you Newbs. I hate using the word New, cuz it’s really geeky, but their is really no other better word to describe you MMA morons. Maybe Jackass or Idiot is a good substitute.

Also, Joe Silva has nuttin on these picks. He’ll probably read this one day, and Bite all my dream matchups! I want royalties on this shit! Does anyone know if you can copywrite dream matchups? Anyway, Joe Silva knows as much about Martial Arts as I know about Dancing or some shit. He has spent any real time on the mats. All he’s good at is picking fights which make him and his mafia friends a shit load of money. Betting on UFC is too risky. You never know who’s getiing off an injury, or who just got arried, or who just kicked their drug habbit, or who only had 2 months to prepare for 1 guy vs the guy who had 6 months to prepare. All the shit you hear fighters say before a fight in the interviews or UFC Countdowns is deceptive, and you should take everything with a grain of salt, like everything else in your life. Tell me which fighter is gonna say before a fight that he might lose cuz the past year was rough for him. Come on people, stop being naive lil bitches.

And Finally, I know more about MMA, and what the real true hardcore MMA fans (people who actually train) than Joe Silva, Dana White, Fertitty Bros, Scott, Coker, Graciemag, Sherdog, ESPN MMA, Yahoo MMA, and pretty much everybody else on the planet. If I picked Matches for the UFC they would go from a Billio Dollar company to a Trillion dollar company in 24 hours. All they do is care about money. They pick fights which give the most bang for the buck. Meaning, they create alot of hype for fighter who aren’t that good, just because they’re cheaper and they have hype. I was checking out the UFC Rosters, and like only 15% of these guys are true A grade Martial Artists. The rest of them should be thanking god every night that they’re even in the UFC, and that they make the money they do, when they’re better quality fighter out there who should have they’re place like people from Strike Force and Dream. And yes, I’m talking about overrated fighters like Bisbing, Griffin, Evans, Maynard, the list goes on and on. To me, I like the way Strike Force and Dream run things, and I like they’re vision better. It seems they have the tru MMA fans in their minds more than the UFC. Well that’s it for now. If anybody is looking to pay me for my Knowledge, get my email from Graciemag. I can be your Ghost writer, hehe. Find me on youtube: MindOverMatterBJJ420

P.S. Nick Diaz is what a MMA Fighter is all about. Like Jack says, “You Can’t Handle the Truth.”

    Peace,
