Cro Cop hunts his demons

Mirko Filipovic is 35 and has 35 fights on his MMA record. This Saturday’s UFC 110 event will add another for the former officer on the Croatian police force.

Despite his brilliant 25 wins, seven losses and two draws (and one NC), Cro Cop is going through the odd phase when the phenomenon begins to be treated like a normal fighter. He is coming off a knockout, suffered at the hands of Junior Cigano, and he has lost three of his last ten fights.

But the kickboxer who came up through the ranks of K-1 has never feared his demons, like in the rematch from December 31, 2004, against shorty Kevin Randleman, who knocked him out early that year.

And what remedy did he use on his American rival? A submission hold he learned from his training partner Fabricio Werdum. However awkward, it worked just fine.
