In the lesson in print section of June's GRACIEMAG, Givanildo Santana showed two precious positions in a class we recorded during his trip to Lotus Club in New York. Anyone with the magazine was left wanting, as we revealed in that lesson how he demonstrated six positions, and we promised to show the remaining four on GRACIEMAG.com.
With the help of GMA representative Eduardo Santos (in white) and student Laercio Fernandes (blue), check out what more the Jiu-Jitsu star who is undefeated in MMA with ten armbar submissions had to show. Ladies and gentlemen, Giva:
Position 1 - Sweep from guard to mount
In GRACIEMAG, Giva demonstrates the armbar he's been catching everyone with successfully in MMA. Here, he teaches how to go for the mount if the opponent is making it hard to get the arm.

Notice how Eduardo Santos pulls in his arm when he senses danger, and thus Santana cannot find room to pass his leg over, choosing to sway and mount.
Position 2 - Variation on 1 going for the back
Here, Laércio Fernandes pulls in his arm and leans his weight back, making it hard to rock back and forth to put him off balance. Therefore, he opens up room for Givanildo to pass under and slide to the back.

Position 3 - Passing the guard
Also in June's GRACIEMAG, Givanildo showed a guard pass in which he "nails" his adversary to the ground. Here's a variation where Laercio tries for an omoplata.

Position 4 - Variation on pass to other side
Notice how, pressed flat against the ground and unable to attack the left arm, Eduardo Santos tries to pull in his right knee and use it as a shield, to get away and free himself from being trapped. The attempt appears to be a good one, if Santana hadn't the technical remedy for it. Here goes:

Enjoyed that? In the June issue of GRACIEMAG, Givanildo Santana provides further conceptual explanations of these positions. The treasure map is there. With the supervision of an instructor, practice and increase your repertory.
