Thales Leites spent carnival with friends on the beaches of Santa Catarina, instead of fighting in the UFC. But, now the injury to his hand has healed completely, the party is over and its time to work hard for the win – and leave behind the leisure time, like that pictured in his MSN avatar, on the coast of Itacoatiara, Niteroi, with a backpack, with his Labrador by his side – named Ryo Leites, collegue of Arona’s pitbulls.
And it is in thinking of his next commitment at 185 pounds that Thales (12w, 1l) accesses the internet from his home in Niteroi, a little after 10pm on Monday. He wants to confirm what he had been awaiting ever since he submitted Ryan Jensen in August of last year, in his last fight in the octagon. “My hand’s already well, I’m training and should fight on June 7 at UFC 85,” types Thales, proving his fingers are already nimble.

But despite the difficulty in spelling it, Thales is already familiar with Nathan’s (26w, 7l, 2d) game inside and out: “After waiting for so long, he has been really well studied.
