18.01.2008 New start at Gracie SPRyan's brothers take over academy
After the tragedy, new beginnings. At Gracie SP the year actually started on January 10. Leaderless since the tragic death of Ryan, in December, the athletes and students received good news for the former master's brothers. Ralph Gracie visited the home base in the Vila Olimpia neighborhood, in the city's southern region and announced that he and his brother Renzo would take over at the academy. THe two will pay constant visits and daily classes will be left up to black belt Russo and two time world champion Celsinho Venicius, who had been invited to work in Sao Paulo by Ryan at the end of last year.

Celsinho commented on the change: "It's like Ryan said, they will be the generals and Russo and I will be the commanders." Black belt Roberto Gordo commented on how Ralph's visit went, making it clear the routine was getting back to normal: "After the talk, we had a training session, with him demonstrating positions."
