Jucao speaks about ATT

Fighter says he’s happy living in Atlanta

Roan Jucao’s roots are in Rio de Janeiro, but his heart was won over by an American city. Established in Atlanta, in the state of Georgia, the black belt made his entry into the American Top Team roster official this week and will be one of the leaders of the branch in the city that hosted the Olympic Games back in 1996. Direct from there Jucao told GRACIEMAG.com about how he came to the decision to join the ATT.

“I prepared for my fight against Tony de Souza there, but before that I was already thinking of training with them, as I was living in the USA and it would be hard to go back to Brazil all the time to train. I know Liborio and many other’s who were part of the BTT, Carlson Team and Universo. They’re all my friends there and there’s nothing better than to train with those you feel good around,” said Jucao.

According to the fighter, the structure offered by the ATT was one of the factors that seduced him, but the equipment being first rate doesn’t guarantee the win in the ring. “Without coordination and professionalism, nothing happens. What put me even more at ease was the professionalism of the athletes and coaches. Here in Atlanta we will soon put together a big gym. I want to bring together all my athletes from France and get new ones here; I’ll work hard to do so. I love Atlanta, it’s a city that received me very well and soon I will have an army here,” he continued.

As reported by the ATT site, during the days leading up to UFC fights, Jucao will do the final part of his preparations at the main barracks of the team, in Florida. There Jucao will share space with recent arrivals Marcelo Garcia and Italian Alessio Sakara. “I had already told Marcelinho it would be great to train there, as the MMA training there is second to none. He will progress a lot. I haven’t spoken to Sakara yet, but he is a good friend of mine, good peeps, will only add positively to the group. It’s nuts over there. The training is great, in every way. There’s lots of wrestling, strikers, Jiu-Jitsu, the level is really high,” completed Jucao.
