This is another first hand piece of news from GRACIEMAG.com. Considered one of the most talented fighters in the world, Ricardo “Cachorrao” Almeida has just signed a contract with the UFC. The Renzo Gracie black belt’s return to the ring was to have taken place at the beginning of the month, at Cage Fury Fighting Championship, however, the event ended up not happening, opening the door for Cachorrao to negotiate his return with other organizations.
After reviewing offers from five different sources, Cachorrao opted to seal the deal with Dana White & Co. and will try to conquer the middleweight belt, which Anderson Silva will defend on Saturday against Rich Franklin.
The first of six fights foreseen on the contract should take place in the beginning of 2008. “The final objective was to make it to the UFC. So, I thought why not go straight to the UFC?" said Cahorrao, when commenting on the good news to GRACIEMAG.com.
