“Some folks said it was the best championship they’ve seen around these parts. World Championship level organization. For example the early sign-ups, the list of competitors available two days before the championship, the brackets were available the night before the tournament. We had around 210 competitors,” Britto recounts.
The event also included a ginastica natural presentation by Alvaro Romano, as well as appearances from brothers Saulo and Xande Ribeiro, and Andre Dida, K-1 fighter.
All the referees at the championship were black belts, and hardly having finished the first event, Jorge Britto is already thinking forward to the next one next year.
Toronto BJJ won the team tournament, followed by Team Ascension.
