27.12.2008 Demian speaks about WandBlack belt helped in training for UFC 92 Wanderlei Silva’s training partner Demian Maia is in the United States, where he helped his partner train for his bout with Quinton Jackson, soon to take place in Las Vegas. Having seen the fighter up close, Demian puts his money on Wand.
“He’s in excellent shape. From what I’ve seen it’s unlikely he’ll lose,” said Demian.
Despite Wanderlei’s main weapon being his striking, the black belt is also confident in his friend’s abilities should the fight go to the ground.
“He’s ready for anything. Of course his game is more geared to striking. I don’t even need to mention his standing game, but, even if it should go to the ground, he’ll be fine to work from there and win,” commented the fighter who went to Las Vegas especially to help Wanderlei.
“I came more to lend support and I’ll stick around for a week after the match with my wife and mother-in-law. But I’m here to be at his service,” he said in finishing.
