The Capital Challenge organization made yet another big announcement for the event to take place in Amman, on the 19th and 20th of December. For the first time in the Middle East women will have their shot. To prove Jordan is an advanced nation, a female category will be added to the event, and will pay out a total of US$ 5 thousand in prizes.
“The number of women interested is catching up to the number wanting in on the male category. The Olympic Federation (of which the president is His Highness Prince Faisal Al Hussain, younger brother to His Highness King Abdullah II) hereby provides incentive for women’s sports,” announced Pedro Galiza, one of Capital Challenge International’s organizers.
The prize money for the tournament was raised. “Capital Challenge will now pay out a total of US$ 141,000 in prize money, with US$ 100 bonus for submissions. It’s a record pay out, never before seen in JJ,” says Zaid Mirza.
Sign-ups are open on the website www.bjjcapitalchallenge.com and those interested should contact them by email at capital.challenge@gmail.com or email the federation at bjjfed.jo@gmail.com.
