The UFC officially confirmed the bout between Georges St Pierre, current welterweight title holder, and lightweight champion BJ Penn. The match will take place at UFC 94, on January 31st, in Las Vegas.
This will be the second time the rivals face off. The first time, in March of 2006, St Pierre left the ring the winner, after a split decision. “This is the most anticipated rematch in UFC history,” said president Dana White. “The first fight was an epic battle between two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport,” he completed.
Although it has not been officially announced yet, another fight being looked forward to for UFC 94 is between Brazilians Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva, both undefeated in professional MMA outings.
