The United States has its darling Gina Carano, but there’s a Brazilian looking to carve out a place for herself in the competitive world of MMA tonight too. Cris Cyborg is being accompanied by husband Evangelista Cyborg in the United States. The Brazilian counted on her partner’s help her to beat Yoko Takahashi today, at EliteXC, in Florida.
“I’m going strong, I trained a lot. After my fight [against Shayna Baszler] I took a week off and went right back to training. I’m feeling really well. I think I’ll do well and do the muay thai the folks liked so much,” said a confident Cris Cyborg to GRACIEMAG.com.
Cris’s husband is excited about his wife’s fight against Yoko. “Folks had been waiting to see Cris fight and nothing happened, but her debut here in the United States took place and impressed everyone. She’ll be a lot more relaxed for this fight, much more sure of herself and will be able to put on better and better performances. She is doing really well, in every way, she’s strong. I think she broke that pressure in debuting in a big international event. Even when she was under that pressure, Cris got in there and let fly, managed to put on a fight that impressed everyone. I’m certain now she will have a great fight,” the fighter recovering from a hyperextended elbow, from his fight at Sengoku, September 28, said.
