UFC: news on Thiagos Tavares and Alves

Fighters to fight in upcoming shows

Thursday brought some news on two of the Brazilians named Thiago to be part of the grand scheme of the UFC. Considered one of the upcoming contenders for the welterweight title, Thiago "Pitbull" Alves was called upon to face Diego Sanchez in one of the main events of UFC 90, set for October, in Chicago.

If he should win, the American Top Team representative may be in line to challenge for the title, now held by Georges St. Pierre, in his next fight.

Now Thiago Tavares was confirmed by the UFC as Kurt Pellegrino's opponent at UFC 88, to be held on September 6th, in Atlanta. Thiago will try to recover from the loss suffered at the hands of Matt Wiman at UFC 85. Pellegrino is in the same boat, as he lost to Nathan Diaz at UFN 13.
