If Anderson Silva is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC these days,it's only fair that he should also be the best paid. The Brazilian fighter, who overwhelmed James Irvin in only 60 seconds Saturday night, heads the list of purses paid by the American organization and announced by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. But Anderson is not alone, Brandon Vera took the same sum as the "Spider."
Among the bonuses paid by the UFC every event, Brazilian Hermes Franca and American Frank Edgar were thanked with US$ 25,000 for having fought in what was deemed the best fight in the event.
