The chance to visit Rio de Janeiro, the city where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was established, as well as the chance to show your stuff competing on the style's most traditional stage. That is what one may enjoy by signing up to participate at the Rio International Jiu-Jitsu Open, set to take place from the 24th to the 27th of July, at the Tijuca Tennis Club.
Sign-ups for those from without Brazil are already open and will be accepted till the 11th, or in other words, next Friday. To register, click here. The sign-up fee for the Rio International Open is US$ 57, and no athletes will be admitted after the date stipulated.
Those already registered should visit the official site of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) to make sure they were signed up properly.
Check out the categories to be disputed. It is worth noting each academy is limited to registering two athletes per category.

Athletes born on 1991 and 1992 are eligible to compete

There is no open class
Adults
The division is open for everyone

bluebelts - 6 minutes
purplebelts - 7 minutes
brownbelts - 8 minutes
blackbelts -10 minutes
Women
There will be five weight divisions (check weight list)
Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division
Adults only
Fight time: Bluebelts - 6 minutes
Fight time: Purplebelts - 7 minutes
Fight time: Brown/blackbelts – 10 minutes
