The life of one of the greatest pugilists of all times has been anything but a fairy tale. Mike Tyson, bearer of an extremely aggressive style and equally potent punches, opted to adopt this “untamable” style that brought him to fame in the ring in his own life.
Thus, his involvement with drugs, the constant run-ins with the law , among other problems, lost him nearly the entire fortune he acquired over long years of training, as well as his prestige. With a trajectory loaded with adventures, “Iron Mike” decided to make a documentary entitled “Tyson” in partnership with director James Toback, to premier at the famous Cannes film festival, in Fance.
The piece features happy moments from the American’s career, some of his first fights, as well as sad moments, even showing scenes from his time spent in a drug rehabilitation clinic. The documentary shot last year promises to shock fight fans and will be a teaser for a full-feature film that should reach the silver screen in 2010, with Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx as “Iron Mike.”
“When I watch it I’m ashamed. There is lots of stuff people don’t need to know,” said the former fighter to The New York Times.
