The UFC is in time for renewal, and another change in the champions list happened on the evening of Saturday, July 30. Tyron Woodley, UFC welterweight fighter, beat the champion Robbie Lawler and took the belt home in the UFC 201, held in Atlanta, Georgia.

The bout, scheduled for five rounds, needed 2min12s to be set. With a right bomb, Tyron hit Robbie’s chin, even brave the absorption of blows was no match for the Woodley’s bomb.

“He caught me with the ol’ T-Wood bomb. I think it’s just a guy who took advantage of a big punch and rocked me and jumped on and finished the job”, told Lawler at the post-fight press conference.

After the big win, Woodley celebrated, but already looks forward. At the press conference the new champ calls for “money fights”. He wants a fight against former champion Georges St-Pierre or Nick Diaz.

“These guys are legends. Nick Diaz is a top-five welterweight of all time and GSP is the No.1 welterweight in my eyes. If I’m an athlete in this sport and I want to be the best in the world, I should compete against those guys. So I don’t feel any obligation to go by the rankings. And, I’ll be honest, I want to fight the money fights”, Woodley said at the post-fight press conference.

At the co-main event, Karolina Kowalkiewicz defeated Rose Namajunas via split decision and approached to fight title against UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
