When in closed guard, the hip bump sweep is an efficient way to not only get on top but in a dominant position, the mount. That’s why a good defense is important.

Professor Armando Basulto of GMA Gracie North Carolina in Waynesville, NC shows a way to defend and counter the move. When the opponent initiates the hip bump, step over the leg and advance to the back.
