American visa pulls Lagarto from Worlds

While the problem keeping Bráulio Estima out of the 2011 Worlds is surgery, a United States visa is what is holding back Lúcio Rodrigues.

Over Twitter, Lagarto confirmed he was denied the travel document by the American consulate.

He lamented the fact: “I’m deeply saddened, but it’s true. Even with a residents visa for the UK and all my documents in order, today I had my US visa denied for the fifth time.”

Lagarto, the winner of the European Open and World Pro, would have competed in the heavyweight division, alongside Xande Ribeiro, Bernardo Faria and Rodolfo Vieira.

Don’t forget to drop by the GRACIEMAG at the Worlds Blog to keep up with all the coverage of the event.

  3. Its a real shame for the tournament as Lagarto is such a skilled practictioner. Hopefully something can be done, its the competition that loses out.
