The omoplata lives on in academies

In medicine, the term omoplata no longer exists in the Portuguese language. Brazilian doctor’s now say “scapula.” In Jiu-Jitsu, however, the omoplata is still very much alive, and no doctor will tell you otherwise. So long live the omoplata lock in academies!

“Scapula” (formerly “Omoplata”) is the term for shoulder plate. But the shoulder lock actually doesn’t only manipulate the shoulder blade but the whole shoulder joint which is called “Articulatio humeroscapularis”. But enough smart assing! It would sound pretty stupid if commentators now would start to say “He finished him with an Articulatio humeroscapularis-lock”, hahaha!
