After thirteen years, the UFC will make its return to Brazilian soil in 2011. According to GRACIEMAG.com sources, Ultimate Brazil will be held in November of next year, in Rio de Janeiro.

The venue, according to sources, will be the HSBC Arena, in Barra da Tijuca, where sporting events and concerts by bands like Green Day, Bob Dylan, and R.E.M. have performed in the past. The UFC crew, including Dana White, has already approved of the location, after visiting Rio some months ago.

UFC Brazil first took place in 1998, at Portuguesa gymnasium in São Paulo, with classic fights like Vitor Belfort’s win over Wanderlei Silva, and performances from Frank Shamrock, Ebenézer Braga, Pat Miletich, Pete Williams, Pedro Rizzo, and Tank Abbott.

What about you, reader, what would be your perfect main event to bring UFC Brazil to a close in 2011? Comment below and help White set up an unforgettable event, this time on Brazilian turf.

  1. I can’t believe it!!! Finally UFC in Brazil. I can’t wait to hear Bruce Buffer speak, some meter of me, “AND NOW THIS IS THE MOMENT YOU’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR”, “AND FINALLY, IT’S TIME”. Will awesome!!!!

  2. Como vai ser no Brasil, vai sugestão do Card principal Completo:
1st fight: Vitor Belfort Vs Wand II
2nd fight: José Aldo Vs Kenny Florian
co main event: Shogun vs Lyoto III
main event: Anderson vs Sonnen II
Vou correr atrás de ingressos já!

  3. Belfort vs Wanderlai 2 (of course) & Hopefully its for the Belt.

If Anderson beats Belfort, the Anderson vs Wanderlai!

I’d also like to see a Gracie fight on this card! Renzo maybe or a RICKSON Retirement Match! (vs Hughes or GSP) Maybe they can give Bustamante, Sperry & Arona each fights on the undercard too or something!

  4. Hi guys, just to update readers. Friday, UFC president, Dana White, denied the information published above. Dana is right: it’s his job to release such informations only when it’s interesting to the UFC. We here, continue our role of publishing informations right after we obtain, always and no matter what. Best regards
